Red Satin

Red Satin

A Poem by Glassboxes
"

Lovers waltzing during a thunderstorm

"

Your lips pulled back like red velvet curtains,

dimple desires lighting fires in my eyes.

as the clouds tumbled above.

Your slender stem twirling in an upside-down rose

as the rain rolled in, stars wept, the heavens cried.

Your lips swept back like red velvet curtains

as you danced in puddles, curling your toes.

Feverish fingers worked to undo all those knots you tied

as the clouds tumbled above.

Grinning and spinning, I kissed your nose

my hands tracing rivets down your side.

Now, Oh! How your lips pull back—red velvet curtains

draped over our shoulders as we stand by the window, so close.

tangles of limbs, swallowed words, we collide

as the clouds tumble above.

Waltzing in a frenzy as the wind blows,

howling with delight outside.

Our lips pull back. The red velvet curtains

tumble as the storm stills—not long now, Love.
