Catching Up

Just a short day in the life of Crystal (my OC) | Bit of backstory: She's been sick for a while and now has to catch up on all the schoolwork she missed | Sorta meant to parallel my own life

Crystal sighed, rolling over in her bed. After having been sick for almost a week and missing too many Academy classes, she was nearly better. But now… the dreaded catching up.

She groaned as she sat up, stretching her legs, then her arms, before standing. Yawning, she walked over to her floor-to-ceiling window and opened the blinds, blinking in the sudden sunlight.

"Geez," she muttered, her tail twitching in annoyance. "No clouds today?" She turned slowly and looked around, taking in her room. Covered in silver and gold tinsel, with a small tree in the corner and twinkle lights interspersed throughout the room.She smiled slightly, her mood lifting. Her Christmas decorations where pretty good this year, she had to say.

As she looked around her room, she felt the fog lift from her mind bit by bit. She glanced downward at her feet and realized that she was still in her bipedal form. She laughed softly and shrugged, wrapping her tail around her waist. It felt warm, like a large hug. This was why she liked her bipedal form, especially for sleeping.

“Better finish my homework for tomorrow,” she murmured, tiptoeing gently down the stairs to the first floor of her room. She flitted through the room, opening curtains and gathering materials for her assignments.

After grabbing her notebooks, pencil case, phone, computer, and a few snacks from her minifridge, she went back upstairs. Setting everything at her desk, she used her magic to pull a couple textbooks off the shelves and set them on her desk as well. 

“That’s better,” she murmured, flicking on the twinkle lights around the corkboard above the desk. Before starting, she slid over to her door, wanting to go out and grab one of her light globes. 

As the door creaked open and she slipped out, she noticed Amber’s door was wide open. However, Amber herself was nowhere to be found. Crystal shrugged this off, sure that Amber would make an appearance later.

Crystal made her way down the hall to the family’s light globe tree. Spanning both stories of the house, the tree had been growing ever since Ruby and Ryuji had gotten married. Crystal smiled when she saw it, her eyes shining as she looked at the four brightly glowing orbs that represented her and her family.

She allowed her wings to materialize behind her as she sat on the railing. She wanted to look at the tree from further away for a little longer, first. After a moment, she pushed off from the railing and glided over.

Made up of four main branches that spiraled through each other, the tree had lush white foliage that fell as petal-shaped leaves. There was nothing else growing on the tree except for four differently-colored light globes, each representing one of the four family members of the house. Yellow and coral orbs were at the top, representing Ryuji and Ruby respectively and how they were the beginning of this family. Purple and pink orbs were closer to the bottom of the tree, representing Crystal and Amber, and how they were the offspring.

Crystal took her light purple orb in her paws and gently twisted until the globe was free. She set it over her shoulder and flew back to the railing.

As her wings faded away, she set back down the hall to her room, her light globe following in her wake. A new one was just beginning to bud on the tree. Crystal smiled as she shut the door to her room behind her. Now she was ready.

She thought she’d tackle her alchemy first.

The light globes were inspired by the light globe tree from the Icewings in Wings of Fire

She has magic abilities that are similar to the magic that unicorns have in My Little Pony (that's the easiest descriptor I'm sorry)

Her wings can materialize and are a part of her magic (Also they're butterfly wings :D )
Also with her magic she can shift from bipedal (two legs) to quadrupedal (four legs) quite easily, she stays in bipedal form often because she finds it more comfortable (and yes she wears clothes don't make it weird imagine her wearing an off-the-shoulder crop top and leggings)

It's kinda meant to sound unfinished, I'm not technically done but I just can't find an ending I like
