My Black Rose

I remember the day

What an amazing day

You gave me a red rose

A single red rose

It was a baby red rose

It flourished everyday

Just like my love for you

As I watered the rose

I watered our love

It grew and deepened

The rose got more beautiful

It shone bright with the sun on it

Being with you we both radiated

You shined your love on me

 

It was time for you to go

My heart was prepared

But I still longed for your presence

Every day I saw that red rose

I saw your face

It brought a smile to my face

 

I wake one morning

And the rose was withering

Petals had fallen

The rose had shrunk

My heart stopped

My soul shrunk inside me

For I knew something had happened

 

I got some distressing news

I came to know that you had passed away

Our time together was over

My heart was broken

I turn around to see

That what was once my red rose

Was now a black rose

My red rose that I will never get back
