Maggie CriesA Poem by Beautiful's Sorrow SongA view of child abuse from someone looking at it. Maggie is a younger child and the girl telling the story is about eleven or twelve.Maggie cries day and night, Bruises cover her eyes, She's only five. It's a sin adults would say but they're all too afraid to say anything. Taylor, I say. Why does your little sister cry so much? What did she do to be locked up in that room? Taylor says, mom's sick and tired, And dads been drinking lately. Maggies there and I can't tell you much more than that, But Maggie doesn't cry because she wants too, Maggie cries harder that night, Blood covers her eyes. Maggie doesn't cry anymore. Taylor cried and the cops took him away. The adults say Maggie cried her way to Heaven, But I know Maggie cried her way to the hospital, Then Maggie cried her last and God wiped her tears away. Maggie laughs in Heaven, Everyday and night. © 2010 Beautiful's Sorrow Song |
