Walking Through Patience Park at Dusk

Walking Through Patience Park at Dusk

A Poem by Girl Friday (Sarah W.)

from the bleached bone groves

shedding white bark   naked

stems of rebirth scratching

            an impressionist’s sky

to the stream     wound like a spindle

licking her sides for enough years

to carve a new path through

            moss-coated stone

in my dreams I see this place     as clearly

as I do this day     sight without mortal eyes

peering through the cellular kaleidoscope

            of sun-to-earth matrimony

it is here where seed waxes to flower

where nectar hoarders build hives

in crooked boughs     this is where it all begins

from caterpillar to chrysalis     and finally

wet fingers of probing radiance erupting

from protected places     venturing

            into a changed world

I am reminded of some sage advice I once received. To make room for the new you must grieve the old and set it free. Pen on most monarch of butterflies.

Welcome back, Sarah.

I love the imagery in your write:

it is here where seed waxes to flower
where nectar hoarders build hives

So good to be reading your work again. :)
I like the lack of punctuation giving way to hesitant spacing as an accent to the ideas and descriptions of each line or section. Some of the greatest things appear to those who are patient and having patience in a society as fast paced as our own is becoming rarer and rarer each day. I was easily transported into the forest of your words, and watched the colors changing as sun bedded down with earth in their natural consummation. Welcome back Sarah.

It's the big bang of emotions eh? ;)
I really love the imagery in this poem. There's a small brook from my childhood in New Hampshire that I am reminded of. I like the idea of it being life giving.

Sight without mortal eyes peering through the cellular kaleidoscope of sun-to-earth matrimony. -- Truly good stuff here. The flow was superb; the way you went from this to this. new in a good way. changed. One of my favorites from you now Sarah.

Being close to nature rejuvenates. It is where life begins and morphs into beauty much like our psyches when we let nature in to heal us. A beautiful walk and message in this piece.

nicely done, Friday! your words joined me to the walk and though I have never been to Patience Park; I have vivid memories of all the parts of this whole. I appreciate the sensuality and birth in your closing lines...Mother Nature is truly all that. had to read it again...lovely!
