It Takes Time

It Takes Time

A Poem by Girl Friday (Sarah W.)

doubt has taken me --

reached around my waist

            with rough hands,

and submerged my confidence

like an unattended buoy,

            lost at sea

 breathe

smooth pebbles rattle

inside of my head,

            finding no footing,

as I see the lip of Hades

looming like nightfall

on the edge of my horizon

stop

I pour a desert from my shoes,

            because

I have walked these shores

two thousand times before,

            and yet

my head tells me - keep searching -

when all I want is to feel again

 remember

the moon is filled to the brim

            with prayers,

waiting in line to be answered

- my turn will come if I hold the course -

            steady hands

make for a sturdy heart

I really enjoyed the imagery of the pebbles in her head, and then shaking the pebbles/sand from her shoes. It almost resembled how sometimes our thoughts take
Over our whole Body, until we finally shake the thoughts
Out and clear our minds (or feet, in this case).

Beautiful and refreshing write

oh man! so relateable ..honest straight forward poetry ..things jumble around and around in our heads tortuously ..i have actually visualized a big red sign that screams "STOP!" just so i can "breath" ...i could read this poem every night before bed for calming :) glad you shared this one for sure!

I shall attempt to "stay the course"...though sometimes it is easier written than done :)
This is an excursion of pure emotion; my cup-o-tea...there are lines of brilliance within (in my humble opinion, anyway)

Thanks so much for sharing

My pleasure
The very particular style of yours,
breath
stop
remember
It gives such an emotional pause to the rhythm of the reader,
Yet another journey to your poetic wanderings, and i feel so refreshed and relieved after reading it.
Thank You for sharing this one my friend.
