The ArtistA Poem by G!o
He never waits for summer
He never waits for winter But he waits for autumn For as leaves fall off trees Broken hearts again fall in love Maybe today he will be lucky Maybe he’ll sell more than portrait Or collect more pennies from the well He puts his heart on the palette And soak the colors with his hope He is the mirror to reflect beauty His tender fingers hold immortality He gives life where it will be taken He boldly webs his pain with their joy Beneath every portrait he lays his heart It is not the beauty of the world- He crafts in colors embossed on canvas It is his truth he that he sugarcoats Of the world falling apart inside For he’s gifted to give hope to ugliness Today he painted a portrait of himself Beneath it he did not put his heart On the white carnation laid his desires He smiled when it drew her attention But it was the picture she loved not him Tomorrow he dressed in his best self Hoping to be the man in his portrait Maybe he will be lucky today Maybe he will meet the best bidder And to her he’ll draw the best portrait He set his canvas under the falling leaves Beneath the tree she came her hands full Told him to make her fall in love He drew his masterpiece with a broken heart And on his face he put his smile As they fell in love and left him standing He beamed knowing it was his heart he gave her. ©g!o.inked © 2013 G!oAuthor's Note
