Keeping Your Head

Keeping Your Head

A Poem by Sarah Melody
"

Depression, anxiety

"
Tears fall down my cheeks
Crystal clear droplets
For a foggy muddled head
Sorrow deep with in
Should be a sin

The heat in my chest
Begging, pleading, needing
Screams echo with in
Screeching to be free
Frustration bring tears to my eyes
Lip been bitten so many times
Anxiety like a burn
A scolding through the chest

Hollowness so deep and dark
Feeling no right to claim the sorrow
Others anguished sufferings worse than your own
Monsters inside your head
Scratching, bleeding, howling
Depression like a claw
Squeezing out all love

But as you almost lose your head
You're granted one last memory
Of all the smiles and laughter
Of dearest family and friends
All of those you hold and treasure
Kept in your heart and held forever

Hesitate on the blade
Everafter pills shaking in the cold grasp
Placing down the pain and sorrow
And embracing the joyful smiles
Past and present happiness
Make them last through the future

Drop the blade in the sink
Throw the pills down the drain
Never letting the haunting memories
Destroy the last of your laughter
