Held Back So Long

I catch a glimpse of you
As I pass you in the hall.
A deep breath I take,
As the tears sting my eyes.
It overwhelms me, the feeling.
The knowing that I'll never get to hold you as my own.
My heart aches knowing this truth,
And my eyes leak the feeling I've held back for so long.
