God's Divine FavorA Story by Himaya KaI never fought for it, but God did.GOD’S DIVINE FAVOR Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. How do I feel about the “New Normal” way of living my life, teaching my students, doing ministry for the Lord and building relationships? Well, it’s not really easy but the good thing is, without any fragments of doubts, I know God was and is with me or with us. I have no victory to claim on my own, everything is only by God’s abundant grace bestowed upon me through His wonderful people. Though I was alone in the house for almost a year, but the Lord didn’t let me feel that way. The blessings that God gave me with my teaching profession is the opportunity to work with parents closely through the performance tasks of their kids. My heart leapt for joy because I saw how the parents supported and helped their children in their activities, most especially when they really took time to perform with their kids on the camera, like singing and acting. Also, it’s a real blessing to know that you are not alone in this Covid journey. I saw how the Lord worked in the lives of people around me, most especially to our very own department. Everything fell into its place without investing so much effort; when everyone realized how blessed they are to have a job, and to have each other. A pure joy from the Lord was experienced as I witnessed how everyone moved in the same direction despite of our differences: learning to accept and embrace our individuality, supporting our weaknesses, and rejoicing each other’s strengths in the love and the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. I never thought that I could continue to reach out the children in the Outreach Program of the school when the Pandemic struck the world. I really thought that it’s the end of my journey with them; what’s worst was the thought that it’s the end of the world. But it did not turn out that way, through God’s divine favor, He showed and corrected my thinking; the world and the ministry keep going. He used a lot of people to finish whatever He started in me, in Philippine Christian Gospel School, and in Bible Baptist Church, Katipunan. Indeed, God is on the move! Covid did not stop Him. What’s more amazing is, I’ve seen how God worked in building our house amidst crisis caused by the Pandemic. Who would think that the construction will continue while people around the globe or in our neighborhood struggled with the anticipation of the downfall of the economy whether it’s global, national, or local. I never fought for it, but God did; all I did was to pray to God to use me with whatever I have for His glory: I have God, life, good health, sound mind and a new laptop to teach, enough salary to support the basic needs of my family, and the unfinished house to find rest and to gather the children nearby to share the Word of God in singing, games, and Bible storytelling, and I have a church to fellowship and worship the Lord with, whether online or a face-to-face meeting. These are all I have, and I offered them all back to Jesus, for I believe that they don’t really belong to me. I’m just a steward of His resources. Yes, these good and perfect gifts from the Lord are not mine to keep for my own interest and to gratify myself, but to fulfill all the thoughts and plans of God for me. I praise the Lord for all His divine favor in
the year 2020-2021. To God be all the glory! © 2021 Himaya Ka |
