LET ME RECEIVE MY SIGHT

Mark 10:51-52

51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. 52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus in the way.

Only those who acknowledge and believe the power of the presence of God can experience an extraordinary and supernatural moment with Him. God sees the seriousness and sincerity of our search for Him. He plays no favoritism nor partiality. Our position in the society does not matter to Him. He never listens or pays attention to anyone based on the level of status he or she has in the eyes of the community, for in His eyes and ears, everyone is important. But only few enjoy the benefit of this truth, and these few, are those who believe; those who are determined enough to pursue the Lord Jesus Christ no matter what other people may say or do to them.  Though this man was blind, in faith He already saw God. It was His faith in Jesus that healed him from his physical blindness.

I think this blind man’s faith was more stable than Jesus’ disciples. In fact, there were several instances that Jesus confronted them for their lack of faith: facing the storm, casting out the demon possessed man, lack of bread in the wilderness and more. You see, this people have been with Jesus, they witnessed how He performed miracles upon miracles, but still they didn’t see Jesus as someone who is able to do the impossible. In Mark 8:17-18, in the scarcity of bread, Jesus spoke to them, “… Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened? 18 Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?” No wonder why in the succeeding chapters Jesus taught His disciples “But many that are first shall be last, and the last first.” For His disciples were with Him for so long, but their hearts were not totally sold out to Him yet. Unlike this blind man, if I’m not mistaken, though it was his first encounter with Jesus, his faith was already blown and ready to soar high for Christ.

How many professing believers today who have been saved for years, but when you look at them the way they behave, and the quality of their service and commitment for the gospel’s sake, as if they are still new in faith? Fruitless! Always waiting for others to feed them instead of feeding others. They are in church not to serve but to be served. If their expectations are not met, like a poisonous balloon, “Boom!” they messed up in the wind: gossip here and there, gossip everywhere.

This spiritual blindness must be stopped. Everyone has to do something about it: immature or mature, fruitful or fruitless, committed or not committed. As a church, we need to build each other up. We need to support each other.1 Thessalonians 5:14 says, “Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

We should not follow those people who charged the blind man to close his mouth when he was crying out for Jesus’ attention. Sometimes, these cries are heard in social media, sometimes we hear it from mouth to mouth. It is sad to know that instead of helping them by allowing them to draw near to Jesus, we choose to criticize. We consider them as an annoying disturbance. If this is our attitude, we need to pray together. We need to ask the Lord Jesus Christ to heal us from our spiritual blindness. We need to cry it aloud in chorus, “Lord Jesus, please let me receive my sight. Enable me to follow you. Help me to pay attention to those who are hurting and seeking for healing. Just like You, instead of running away from the blind man, you stood still and allowed him to come to you. Soften my hardened heart for the needy. Don’t allow me to push them away. Give me Your heart and compassion for them. Let me see people the way You see them.”

Naa... I had a nice talk with him this morning.

What you're really saying is that because you hold a set of opinions, with zero evidence behind them, you're better than anyone who doesn't believe as you do.

But if true, then people of your sect would either not get Covid, or get it a lot less than the religions that aeren't so favored. And there would be at least a few miraculous healings. Yet the faith healers can't seem to do a thing against it. And Christians get Covid at the same rate of other religions in the same country. In fact, you have Christian preachers insisting on not talking precautions in church, and having people die because it it. Surely if you're right, they would have had a moment with him where he said to stop it.

So you're saying many things, but the gist of it is that you're better then others, because you belong to that church. And I know with certainty that Neither God nor Christ said that.
