HUMILITY KNOWS NO OFFENSE
Daily In The Word Day 2

John 2:3-5

3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

These verses of scripture ignite my thoughts to remember God's good and perfect gift I received from Him. One of the blessings I am counting with my fingers is to know these few people whose humility is truly astonishing. I really considered myself blessed to have them in my life. Though they are a lot older than me but everytime we fellowship, there's not a chance that they let me feel so inferior when I'm with them: they let me express my thoughts without judging, they solicit for my opinions and ideas without regretting; they always show a genuine appreciation with what they hear; they are very grateful. What's more stunning about them is when they asked for advice; who am I, I mean, what am I? It's so humbling. What's more amazing was when they heard my honest to goodness brutal answer to their querries, I never tried getting a response with an offended aura. Their humility overshadowed and penetrated to the very marrow of my bones desolving the hidden arrogance and pride within me. With no words, they taught me the true essence of humility. That everytime I pray for humility, they are always in my mind. Yes, I see Jesus' humility in them. They are the few people whose humility knows no offense. As a result, they pulled me down back to the ground, and I love it!

To be honest, I don't really know what was Jesus thinking when His earhtly mother told Him about the present need. I don't know if I'm correct to think that maybe at first Jesus didn't really feel good when He heard His mother trying to suggest what He should do; like commanding Him to show off His power, because Mary knew who He was. He is God. Maybe the God in Him was thinking "Oh Mary, please don't forget who I really am, I'm your God, not just one of your children." But no, it didn't happen that way, both of them were moved by humility to humility. Mary knew who she was. She knew that she was talking to her God not to her son. So, when Jesus answered her with a question "Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come." She did not exclaim "What! How dare you talking to me like that, I'm your mother, remember!" No, she did not do that, instead she was humbled. Instead of claiming her right as a mother, she submitted to the will of her God. I believe that it was her humility which made Jesus turned the water into wine. Yes, Jesus was moved by the humility of His earthly mother.

So the lesson that I learned here is, if I want to enocurage or teach others to humble themselves, I have to show it to them how not with my words but with my actions. Yes, it's about teaching by example. I know it's hard, but If I continue to surround myself with these kind of people whose humility knows no offence, I know by the grace of God it shall be done.

LET'S PRAY!

Dear God,

I praise and thank You for giving me these people whose source of humility is You. Thank You for letting them come into my life. Thank You, LORD for working in their lives amazingly. Continue to shine on them, so that their light will continue to shine on me. Lord Jesus, please forgive me for the times that I have been so arrogant and proud. Please cover me with Your precious blood, and allow me to walk my life in humility. Please LORD, help me to be more like them, most especially to become more like You. In Jesus name I pray, Amen!
