Okay to be Empty
Genesis 1: 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness
was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the
waters.
We
may feel so empty and void today. We may lose our sense of purpose and
direction and we don’t know what to do, where to go and how to start all over
again, but we should not allow the enemy to bring us into the pit of
hopelessness and despair, for we know that our emptiness is just the beginning.
Yes, everything starts from nothingness, and it should start this way so that
the carpenter, engineer, architect, artist, the designer and the perfect
creator of our lives can perfectly make us into the kind of person that He
wants or He designs us to be, according to his pleasure, will and purpose for
each one of us. We have to remember that in our nothingness, the Spirit of God
is moving upon the face of the waters. The presence of God is with us. He is
carefully watching and planning how to fill the empty space of our hearts and paint
our colorless lives and turn it into a perfect beauty. We may not see it now,
nor feel, but know that the Lord is good. Let us learn from King David when he
came to the point of surrendering, he said to himself, “I had fainted, unless I
had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” We
should remember the goodness of God in our lives. Let’s remind ourselves the
goodness of God shown at the cross of Calvary.
Instead of thinking what we don’t have, let us be reminded of the
greatest gift that we had received from God; His One and Only Son Jesus; our
salvation that brings us hope for the eternal life to come. Let’s continue to
believe, hope and wait on him (Psalm 27:13-14), for if we do, He will always make
all things beautiful in His time (Ecclesiastes 3:11), not according to our own
timetable. For now, all we need to do is to fully rest on Him, be quite and be
silent before Him, for we do not see, hear nor perceive what God has prepared
for those who wait on Him (Isaiah 64:4). It’s okay to feel empty, but it’s not
okay to think that we are alone, for we are not, and we will never be, for God
is always with us. He will never leave us nor forsake us (Matthew 28:20).
