Touch Me Not

Touch Me Not

A Poem by Himaya Ka
"

Why should I embrace you if I know you'll just make me stink

"

TOUCH ME NOT

Your name is pride

To people’s heart you hide

You always think of your side

Though truth splashed on your face like a tide

You are greedy of fame

But so generous to give shame

To your mouth you don’t like anyone to tame

And yet instead of building up others you make them a lame

Why do people embrace you

Why they cannot let you go

To them what did you do

That they learned to love you so

Such a deceiver

In relationships a destroyer

To authority a mocker

And to joy you are a killer

To human you are a curse

What you brought is a negative force

You cause people to remorse

In war you are the source

So it caused me to wonder

Yes, deeply I ponder

What is your power

That people allow you to linger

But please touch me not

For to me you are a burning pot

In my heart I refuse to give you a slot

For I know with you I will rot

So help me Lord Jesus

Help me remember that I am an ash

Without You this life is like a trash

So now to You I yield my proud heart for you to wash
