Unasked Questions

Unasked Questions

A Poem by J. David

If I kissed your cheek, would you show me the smile you save for when the lights are off?
When you are dressed in darkness because you are afraid
of showing the world how beautiful you are.

If I held you hand, would you pull me into the embrace I've been wishing for on falling stars?
For your body is warm and the nights long and cold,
and beds are often made for two.

If I lay next to you would you stay awake to keep my bad dreams at bay?
And on the nights when yours come out,
know to you I'd do the same.

If I told you I know your loneliness, I wonder if you'd let me stay?
But again these questions are unasked,
and love has to travel both ways.
