Compare the Girl

Compare the Girl

A Poem by J. David
"

For Tyler, who deserves sweeter things than just my words.

"
Compare the girl, to the wind or the snow,
To the first rays of dawn or the moon's soft glow.
To quiet nights in winter, or the sound of the rain,
All beautiful for different reasons, and the girls just the same.
Compare the girl, to the pull of the ocean or the tug of the tide,
To the calm of the water that brings peace of mind.
As sweet as the melody of when birds start to sing,
Yet cautious and worried of what the future may bring.
Compare the girl, with a love like the kite when it takes to the skies,
With a smile like sunshine and stars in her eyes,
With friends who love her no matter the cause,
Through heart ache and loss, through pain and the wars.
But comparisons are for those who are like everyone else,
Like copies of the same book found on every libraries shelf,
So dismiss what i said for although its true,
What makes you beautiful is unique only to you.
For what the future has in store,
You'll have to wait and see.
Because faith brings hope to the loneliest of hearts,
And I've learnt to always believe in destiny.
