Death of an egg

Death of an egg

A Poem by Gill Fitzpatrick
"

More breakfast benevolence

"

Small orange eye staring

The hot pan kills, opaque white

Creeping to the edges of its captor

Crisping at the edges as it tries to escape

Belligerent to the end, spitting, slapping, angry

The tired egg finally succumbs to its fate

Death on a plate

Eggs are born to hatch, but we kill to eat. Good work 👍
