bacon v bacon

bacon v bacon

A Poem by Gill Fitzpatrick
"

the age old quandary

"

Smoked or unsmoked? That is the question!

Which one is the nobler? Do you have a suggestion?

Each one distinct and unique in its flavour

So tell me, please tell me! Which one do you favour?

The smell of the smoked one, you just can’t compare

To the sniff of the unsmoked that just lingers there

Its smoked salty sweetness, a joy on the tongue

Smoked is the best one, I’m sure I’m not wrong!

But then when the unsmoked is served on crisp toast

I think maybe this one’s the one I like most

A sliver of sauce, must be brown and not red

Perhaps I like unsmoked much better instead

I can’t make my mind up, I’m dazed and confused

When shopping, I gaze at them both, just bemused

I just can’t commit, not pledge one my troth

And so in my basket, you’ll find I have both!

Ha ha. Very clever. This is very witty. I really enjoy your writing style based on the few I have read so far.
