Unapproved

Unapproved

A Poem by David McNeeley

"Hey! That's not right," they scream
"Yeah, I know. It's not supposed to be," you quietly reply
But they're louder and more shrill
So they take it down and stamp it

Now everyone knows "that's bad!"
So they don't look at it, and are ashamed if they do
But still some peek through trembling fingers
And shout exclaiming at what they've seen

For lo, tis not evil in color
As said stamp seems to state
But beauty,in one of her many forms so rare and so few
That any would gasp even if it weren't evil true

So they rally once more
And celebrate your "genius"
Worshiping what simplicity you've made
While sitting you dream again of beauty's many lost loves
