Revolution of the Heart

Revolution of the Heart

A Poem by David McNeeley

We want to see a change
We want to make a difference
But we feel nothing
And all we know is numb

We will wake in a new world
One day
We will know peace in our time
But at what price

Is freedom worth
A world free of sadness and pain
Is silence in a world of injustice
A worthy cause

Sure tolerance is a pretty word
But tolerance means
No Good or Evil in our world
And without them life is empty

What will we do when our revolution is done
Where will we go when there are no more castles to tear down
Who are we without your fight
How will we live without a cause

When we are kings
How will we decide what is just, if there is no wrong
You say the murderer is wrong, but he is a person
You say rape is wrong, but the rapist claims he is in love

So you see there must be rules, for the world to turn
And laws must be kept, for there to be peace
You will be the same as those that went before
You will rule, and in turn are ruled

True revolution comes, when you rule your own spirit
When you control your actions
And do not choose because you feel
But because you follow something real
When you have purpose
