Love's happy bewilderment

Love's happy bewilderment

A Poem by David McNeeley

You know I was just wondering
If maybe you're the one for me

You know that one
That's so special my whole world trembles with her

Makes me straighten up and think about
What I'm doing and what I'm assaying to everyone
When I move that way
My love, are you the one for which I'll gladly die

Well I think that time is ticking on
And soon I'll with the wind be gone

But I want to know that I left you something other than my spare change
For us to taste something more than life has to offer
To give more than seeing all that animal stuff
I wish for a little more than what is physically there

I'll be here when it's all over and done
I just hope that I'm not destined to sing love's ending
Sad, sad would be that day if it ever came
Cuz that would be the day that your love I could never more claim
