AthleteA Poem by David McNeeleyGirl in Baseball Cap on the Bus
You sit there in your ballcap and sweatpants
Ready to run, Ready to play Work hard, Play hard But I know your heart I know who you are If you were a color you shine bright yellow Uncommon and independent But your light soon fades In the glow of another They see your bones and flesh They'll see you run They see you prepare for battle When none is present But I will always admire your courage Though others may say you're too rough I see the softness in your heart Though they may see muscle and tone I see love and hope © 2014 David McNeeley
