Art, Parts 1 & 2

Art, Parts 1 & 2

A Poem by Gillian
"

I realize that this isn't really poetry, but it fits in better as poetry than as anything else. Also, because they echo each other quite a lot, I wouldn't normally put them together. Oh well.

"

Art, Part 1/The Void

Art is a tall, thin woman with long black hair.  She sits, legs curled to her chest, a cigarette propped elegantly between two fingers.  A slash of red lipstick occupies her tired face like blood against snow.  Her dark eyes peer knowingly from beneath chunky bangs.  Art is an androgynously sexy being, and she seduces with reckless disregard.  Art smiles, and reveals her rotting teeth.  Art smiles, and we fall into the void, empty yet complete, and - for an instant - Art is satisfied.

Art, Part 2/Tribute to Patti

She is like Art itself, with her long, skinny legs and ever-present cigarette. When she speaks, the sound is hoarse and deep, like a truck driver. She sounds perfect to me.  Inhale, exhale a thin wisp of smoke.  A cloud of magic and mystery surrounds this girl and her Keith Richards haircut.  With her tired eyes and heroin face, her bony fingers clenched around the neck of her guitar, her voice dripping of truth and experience, she sure isn't normal.  I am convinced that she is beautiful
