As i put this flag upon our Veterans gravestones

As i put this flag upon our Veterans gravestones

A Poem by Benita-Staebell M - KindredPoet
"

We Salute you Veterans my father in law was in the navy my Dad was in the army My Grandpa my dads dad was in the armed air forces my Great grandpa was in the Navy we salute you.

"

As I walk

through this Cemetery

I see the brave souls

that fought and died

for our country,

We walk today  and

put an American

flag upon their

grave stones.

They carry scares

upon their hearts

holding that dying baby,

Breaks those

tender hearts.

Waiting for them

to come home safe.

So I see great men

that died for our country

as I put that waving

American flag upon

their grave stone.

For all our Veterans

we salute this flag

thank you god for brave men.

Thank you to the veterans

that served that are alive

and that died.

Happy Veterans Day!

Our Boy scout Troop 116 went to one of our Cemeteries
and put American flags on the veterans grave stones that served
and fought and died bravely for our country it was very humbling
made you want to cry such a beautiful thing this is a true Fact did this
Saturday morning November 8, 2014 and we lost a Assistant scout master
that was in our Troop 116 a long time ago when my husband was little
and he also served as a veteran he had cancer and then a heart attack
he past the 30th and we got the news of his passing November 1 -2 2014
we went to his wake after and were showing our respect was family friends
and many troop people there scout masters and many that knew him he loved
children and did much for them I only meet him once or twice but don't remember
him well but I was there for my husband as he did cry for a moment and I do now in
then didn't at the wake but it was heart breaking and happy at the same time.

we Salute you Veterans GOD BLESS!

Kindred heart, this one is perfect and so touching for our brave heroes. You've honored them well, my friend. I loved each stanza better than the one before it. You wrote from your heart and your beautiful spirit showed through in spades. Love this one.

Thank you Benita.
thank you for this....i somehow got lucky and didn't end up in Nam...but several of my friends did...and it really changed them...
my sister lost a best friend there....as for my dad....he and a buddy tried to enlist in the Navy during world war II, but strange scenario...my dad was designing ships for the Navy with this friend, so the Navy wouldn't let them enlist, said they needed my dad and his friend to make the ships instead of sail on them.
