Card tableA Poem by Gideon X. A. ElsonI wrote this with some help from family who took an interest for once I'm poetry albeit drunken bullshit some participants were more sincere than others
As we sit here at this table,
We find that we are no longer able, To speak the words we truly meant, Of times we've had and have been spent, We find that it is time for bed, And cease to speak on things unsaid, We leave them to be said tomorrow, For not another's time we borrow, Yet alas we remain adhered, When loved ones words have been seared, Unto our minds and upon our hearts, And loved ones now have fell apart, But with this yarn we shall regain, One single thread that remains, And in a dream state shall we, Fantasize for what could be, If only they sincerely cared, Then perhaps we could be spared, But, no mind it does not matter, For words we speak but idle chatter, And truth we say not truly felt, For it seems these are the cards we're dealt, © 2022 Gideon X.
