I Wish...A Poem by Gideon X. A. Elson
Something died today,
And I know not what it was, I heard it as it left although, I know not what this does, It felt as if my heart cried out, Aloud in terrible pain, And I feel as if I want to shout, And my sanities begun to wain, I stumble forward in the dark, With no light to guide my way, You know you used to be that spark, But that as well died today, And I wish you wouldn't have waited so long, I wish we could have stayed, And I wish I never did sing that song, And I wish we weren't afraid, I wish it wasn't all my fault, And I wish for you to see, That I wish this never had to halt, And that I wish for you to be, Happy, joyous, lively, merry, Blissful, light and gay, Gleeful, laughing, blessed very, And smiling every day, And if you find yourself, Sullen, gloomy, or sad, Just pull a poem from the shelf, And think of the laughs we've had. © 2022 Gideon X.
