SunrayA Poem by Gideon X. A. Elson
Fear not long for this world am I,
With no shining light to go by, No compass now to steer my way, Retreat the sun it's golden day, Grim realities and harsh truths, Unknown these are to sanguine youths, For life without glory, Nay honor, Life where, scarce I look upon her, When hope becomes a fleeting fae, No longer mine she is this day, The light she gives beyond compare, Hopes light no longer falls on my hair, And voyage on I guess I must, But fear my ship has taken rust, Sinking alone whilst out to sea, Without my hope to rescue me, Mastery here before I've been, And not alone this ship I'm in, Naturally surely one could say, When so many people felt this way, And further now to my dismay, A growing sense of comfort lay, Upon my heart and in my mind, When I encounter thoughts unkind, Not comfort nay perhaps repose, When my thoughts drift unto my woes, With stillness now a solemn want, For death it seems I must confront, Nay, Feel valiantly I must go on, Deaths time it seems not forgone, And wherein lies my troubles source, Perhaps simply upon my course, Rejoice for this we all can alter, If in mind we do not faulter, Go out you now to sieze the day, And take upon thee hopes Sunray © 2022 Gideon X.
