Cupids FollyA Poem by Gideon X. A. ElsonWhen death is sweeter, than to pang your lovers heart.
For how the sky cries violet moonbeams,
Onto my heart at this hour. Two ladies dancing in my nights dreams, Whilst upon my polestar sits a flower. The choices I refuse to make, Spurn one lady, love the other. The effects of thee my heart would break, Blue it seems my life's true color. La vie en rose and longing respite, Nights of cold to supplant. How cruel when I my own hearts despot, And love one o'er the other can't. With no reprieve or terminus in view, Resign my heart to cupids notion. Who wantonly his arrows threw, Thus setting these events in motion. And if no conclusion reaches he, Conclusion of real consequence. Removed this world let me be, For suffer death of continence. © 2022 Gideon X. A. ElsonReviews
