The call to the Void

The call to the Void

A Poem by Gideon X. A. Elson
"

This is a poem that I've re written from another I wrote in 2009 ... its an emotionally written piece centered around one's place in life without purpose or meaning.

"
You never seem to make up your mind.
With satisfaction so hard to find.
And you wonder now how to repair this mess.
That's left you in austere distress.
The trigger pulled and life begins.
Again and again without an end.
The trigger pulled one grand surprise.
This thing called death, our great demise!
So horrible though, our miserable existence?
But to take up arms in one last resistance.
And cease all love without emotion.
And heal the broken hearts without devotion.
Alas!
Resume this killing and fulfill your filling.
Imminent now, but with no shame to concede.
For we can not all triumph the l'appel du vide.

i think you nailed the depth of despair and depression that, for your speaker, leaves but one recourse .. interesting to me that he/she seems to think they are stuck in a cycle of rebirth, L5-6 ... i am reminded of the warning that goes something like .. be careful staring into the void .. it might stare back .. scary says i ;) i don't know how people can hold the believe that there is no God, no grand plan no purpose ... from such a dark place it seems one would have no guidelines but one's own selfishness .. catchy title says i! presents a unique experience not much written about .. most certainly inspires thought and consideration of dark places .... risky business says i!

Wow! Unsuspected depths. Shadows unconcieved. Never would I have thought this would come from your pen. Just shows that dark thoughts can lurk everywhere. Left unexplored, they fester. Great job dragging this into the light. May the Blessed Virgin be with you.

As do all who write poetry, my friend.
We have a vast group with many different backgrounds. I'm surprised no one has reviewed this one yet. My duties in life are always changing and though I have emotionally jumped from great heights. I like to keep my feet squarely planted.
