Trial by fire? Hmmm, great way to tell the trueness of a thing/concept. I like it! This poem reads like an alchemic spell designed to remove a perceived cloak of deception. Though the poem is replete with descriptions of hot displeasures; as I read the poem, I can't help but imagine a "fun", whimsical tone as this spell is cast...but that's just me. Something about spell-casting that just brings out the kid in me.
This was a very enjoyable piece! I loved the alliteration! Sometimes poets can over-do it, but you used it perfectly in this!
I like the sense of forboding, especially at the end. And the contrast of innocence and the darkness of lies~ Wonderful.
Great job!
