The well of soul that has lost its way is deep and wide as the grand canyon,That is why I think the thoughts of a man can be bigger than the universe.Your work speaks of the pain and in so doing has a bitter sweet taste to it .It is an accurate representation of the truth in life and what it is to be a man who has to swallow back the pride that came at such high cost
Every line of the poem is like a link in the chain of experience. Great metaphors.
I also agree with Sam that the last four lines stand out. You've brought me right into your soul and although I've never been married or divorced, I sympathize with your feelings. What if... always comes to mind after a substantial loss.
There are no rulebooks in life that we can follow so we must figure it all out ourselves. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. We're human. Hope you feel better. Great poem from the heart. 100 from me.
Yes, I know the feeling. Those dark days were nearly 30 years ago, but one never forgets. I like your last lines--"Turbulent streams of lost love unsettles the lake of my soul." Very effective writing, J.M.
This comes across as coming undone, having your inner self invaded, but no defensive walls to fend off the assault.
I like the lines,
"Turbulent streams
of lost love
unsettles the lake of
my soul." - because it paints such a vividly beautiful picture of what a soul could in fact be. A serene, calm lake suffering from the smallest ripple on the surface let alone a storm.
