The Alpha Squad Versus The Silver Killers!A Story by Michael GillThe Alpha Squad VS The Silver Killers
Prologue
The Alpha Squad spent The New Year with their families at The Big House. It was one of the very few days of the year that they didn’t have to worry about patrolling the streets of Silverton. Mike felt he was growing closer to Erica but was still unsure whether to actually ask her out. What he didn’t tell the others was after his mistake for nearly falling for Technonia under her guise that he couldn’t trust his judgment when it came to girls. He trusted Erica, he and she had been a great duo against their foes. They had worked together a lot over the last months since she had joined up with The Alpha Squad whether it been in The Holo-Dome or out in the streets. Now that The New Year had come he decided it was time to start anew, to trust his judgment in all things, not for his sake, but for the sake of his team. Now that he held The Sword of Leadership doubt was an enemy that could no longer cloud his mind. It was five minutes before mid-night when he approached Erica and asked her to talk to her in private. They went into the library and she asked, “What’s on your mind?” “I think it’s time we both face the truth.” He started to say, “Everyone knows we like each other. And we both know how we feel about each other, so I think it’s time for me and you to take the next step in our relationship.” “You mean be boyfriend and girlfriend?” She asked him with a sweet smile. “Yes, that was the point I was trying to make.” He admitted. “Well then let’s make it official…at midnight.” She grabbed his hand and they went back into The Main Hall where at midnight they had their first kiss.
Chapter 1
The teens returned to school the following week and everyone was up in a rave about the new band that was from their hometown of Silverton. “What’s the buzz all about?” Angie asked around. “The Silver Killers are coming back to town!” One of their classmates cheered with glee. “The Silver Killers?” Erica asked in disbelief. “They’re a Metal Rock band that was formed together a few years ago.” Mike answered, “They got a record deal and are now coming back starting here for their new tour.” “Wow what a great way to start their publicity.” Dan commented as he read the paper. “Yeah I didn’t want to tell you guys about it.” Ally admitted folding up her paper, “But that’s why I had to cut out last nights’ patrol.” “Don’t worry about it totally understandable.” Mike told her as he kept reading the article. “But did you have to print this?” He pointed to the picture of him and Erica kissing at midnight on New Years’. “It’s news though.” Ally said with a big smile. “Yeah but I know mine and Erica’s relationship going public was going to turn some heads but I wasn’t expecting this.” “But she did give it a nice title.” Erica pointed out to him and it read, “The future King and Queen of this years prom?” “Great way to promote us Ally.” Mike sighed. “Hey, the voice of the media is a powerful tool.” Ally told them and she skipped down the hallway to class. “Well I guess we best go face the music.” Erica said taking his hand as they left to class. “So how about that.” Dave commented, “Those two do make quite a pair.” “Yeah, by the way who won the pool?” Clara asked. “Jacob did.” John said in disbelief as he closed his locker. “Wow who would’ve guessed?” Angie asked. “My uncle is a hopeless romantic, and that is what made him guess.” Nicole told them. “So when’s the next pool?” Erin asked. “Now that’s a question that won’t be asked for a long time.” Dan patted her on the shoulder and they all left for class. Throughout the day everyone congratulated Mike and Erica on their relationship status. They smiled and thanked them but Mike was ready for this day to be over already. At least the school part, he was looking forward to the part where they would go out on patrol at least then they would get some privacy. There was also the buzz about The Silver Killers returning to Silverton to start their tour. Everyone during lunch time was on their cell phones or laptops buying up tickets to good seats or at least seats in general for they were selling fast. “So are we going?” Erica asked as they at lunch in the schools’ newspaper room. “Maybe.” Mike answered. “Maybe? Why maybe?” Dan asked. “Just because a few hundred people are going to be at a concert doesn’t mean another few hundred people won’t be out and about causing havoc.” Mike told them. “Eh, he’s got a point.” Angie pointed out. “Well they are here for three nights.” Ally brought up. “Well maybe we can go the tomorrow night.” Mike said with a smile, and they all got on their phones and ordered tickets. They all bought their tickets for different seats so that way if something did come up they wouldn’t show their hand as The Alpha Squad.
Chapter 2
It was a couple of hours before opening night for The Silver Killers tour at the schools’ football field. The stage was covered up to protect the electronic equipment from rain. The stage hands who were from the music departments from school helped set up the stage. The band members were in their bus getting ready for their gig with the hometown crowd. “Man check out all the chicks!” Smasher exclaimed as he looked out the widows checking out the groupies. “Focus will you Smasher.” Slasher told him. “We’ve got to get everything ready for the gig!” “I thought Smoker was taking care of that?” Lasher said setting his guitar strings on all of his guitars. “Hey Smasher is there any hot looking guys out there?” Ivory cackled as she put on her make up. “Hey what are we chop liver?” Axer Racer asked. “Yeah that’s exactly what you are.” Smoker said coming in. Not only was he their special effects guy but also their manager. “Especially if this plan doesn’t work.” “It’ll work trust me.” Axer told him. “Besides no one will suspect us, we’re the towns’ hometown heroes.” Smasher said with pride as he started put gel in his hair to spike it up. “Yeah but now The Alpha Squad is now the towns’ if not the world’s hero’s!” Ivory reminded him. “But after tonight, they’ll be too busy to have to deal with us; they’ll have the town to deal with.” Lasher pointed out and they all laughed.
Chapter 3
Nothing happened the night of the first concert, but that didn’t stop Dark-Rider from doing his normal routine of patrolling the streets of Silverton. The morning came slow because of the lack of crime but he enjoyed the quiet for once. He returned to The Big House to be there in time for the mornings’ Holo-Dome session. After the session they had breakfast and headed off to school. As they walked down Senior Hall they heard some of their friends talking about the opening concert of The Silver Killers. From the sounds of it everyone had fun there. They went to their classes and then met at lunch. After school was over they rushed off to The Big House to get their homework done in time for the concert. They rushed through dinner and went back to the high school to get their seats at the concert. At 7pm the concert started up and the crowd went wild. The first few songs they did was from their old albums which got the crowd riled up. The teens were scattered around the crowd and enjoying themselves. After they finished some of their original hits, Axer Racer announced they were now going to songs from their new album that would be coming out in a couple of weeks and could be pre-ordered online at their website. As the songs went on Ally was starting to feel ill as if she was starting to come down with the flu. Dave asked her what was wrong and she motioned to him that they all had to get out of there. Dave nodded and pressed a button on his Changer to alert the others to regroup at their rendezvous spot in case of emergency. They regrouped and Mike asked, “What is it Ally?” “I could hear something…within the music…something awful.” Ally muttered weakly. “Like what?” Dan asked. “Just words, like destruction, chaos…other words like that.” She answered now starting to look like she was feeling better. “I’ve heard of hypnotic suggestion in music before.” Mike said thoughtfully, “But I never thought we would encounter such a thing.” Just then their communicators broke through, “Go ahead Jacob we’re here.” “The Alpha Squad is needed.” Jacob told them bluntly. “People are rioting within the streets of Silverton and Salem.” “Wonderful.” John rose up his hands in defeat, “We finally get a day away from being heroes and the whole world goes crazy.” “There’s no rest for the wicked my friend.” Dan patted him on the shoulder. “We’ll get right on it Jacob.” Mike assured him. “The Salem riot control unit has everything pretty much under control.” Jacob reported to them as they activated their Bio-Suits. “Unfortunately for Silverton they don’t.” “They do now.” Dark-Rider corrected him, “and its name is The Alpha Squad.” He turned to the others, “Everyone use you abilities to contain the situation only. Use stun bolts if needed.” They all nodded and split up into small teams. Throughout the night they used their abilities to bring order back to town of Silverton. Dark-Rider used his ability of flight to pick them up and bring them to a metal cage that Metallacia made. Frezor would freeze them in their tracks as Molder placed others into cement cages. Blaze would use giant rings of fire around people. Sparks used his speed to bring them to the cage, and Metallacia would place individual cages around others. Light-Blader and Star-Girl placed them light cages. Shieldra placed shield bubbles around them, as Mindra used stun bolt the most aggressive. Using their team work skills they were able to stop the riot from destroying the town. It wasn’t until around 4am before the team had returned to The Big House. Dark-Rider assured them that after the night that they had that there would be no Holo-Dome session, but instead try to get a three hour sleep. Dark-Rider took off his mask and sat down at I.Q. while the others rested he looked up on what would cause the riot…then it hit him like a ton of bricks! Mindra had told them that she heard words within the music. “I.Q. bring up names of whom had gone to the concert last night and then match it with those whom we encountered tonight.” “Searching…100% match.” “Now that’s interesting.” Dark-Rider commented as he continued his search.
Chapter 4
It wasn’t until lunch time before the teens could gather together to talk about what had happened last night. Mike told them all that he had found out, “Everyone that went to the concert the first night were the same people we apprehended last night. This morning they don’t remember a thing, the last they knew they were either doing homework, going to bed, or hanging out with their families. The next they know they were behind bars.” “And you think it was the music of The Silver Killers?” John asked. “Not the music, but the words within the music and not the ones we could, but the ones that Ally was able to hear.” Mike answered, “As it turns out, I looked up satellite footage of last night. At the time the concert had started there was no activity on the streets. But as soon as they started playing their new stuff, the streets were filled within minutes.” He showed them on his laptop that he had brought with him. “So what’s the plan?” Nicole asked him. “I’ve already contacted the police and gave them the evidence that we already have…” Mike started to say. “And I hear a “but” coming.” Erin said playfully. “Yes but they need hard evidence.” Mike continued. “And how do we get that?” Angie asked. “We don’t.” Mike answered and then pointed to Ally, “Ally does.” “Me?” She asked. “Yes, I figured that since you work in the schools’ newspaper, you could get easy access.” Mike explained. “I’m sure I could get in.” Ally assured him. “Ask for a tour of everything. Place these listening devices in their trailer, the stage, and the sound booth.” He handed them to her. “I’ll do just that.” She assured him and they departed from lunch. Ally was able to gain easy access to have an interview with each of the of the band members and even their body guards. As she was given the tour by Smoker she was able to easily place the listening devices in places where they wouldn’t be found. She thanked them for the interviews and she went back to the newspaper room. She put the paper to bed for the day and returned with the others to The Big House and they listened in… “So did you have fun with the babe Smoker?” Lasher had asked him. “She was a reporter for the schools’ newspaper man, she’s not my type.” Smoker told him. “Did you hear what happened last night?” Ivory asked. “The Alpha Squad stopped the riots last night.” “Those do-gooders!” Cursed Slasher. “They just had to interfere didn’t they?” “What’d you expect? You thought they were just going to sit back and let chaos happen on their watch?” Basher wondered. “No I had a feeling they were going to interfere.” Slasher admitted. “So what now?” Metal Head asked. “We continue with the plan…for tonight The Alpha Squad will have not only those from the other night, but also from last night. They’ll be so busy they won’t be able to stop us from releasing new chaos among streets.” Axer Racer voice came in. “Not only that but I’ll have the replay playing over and over until we finish looting the whole town.” Smoker told them, and they all laughed. “Well now we know their true plan.” Frezor said. “And so does the Silverton Police whom were listening in with and will be arresting The Silver Killers within the hour.” Jacob told them. “Well I don’t know about you guys.” Molder yawned, “But I think we can take a break tonight and catch up on some sleep.” “I’m with Molder, you guys deserve the rest.” Dark-Rider told them as he put his mask on. “But where are you going Dark-Rider?” Blaze asked. “I’m going to interrogate The Silver Killers…something tells me they weren’t working alone.” Dark-Rider answered and left. Chapter 5
Dark-Rider went into the interrogation room where Axer Racer was in and sat down across from him. “So I guess I should be thanking you for me and my pals in this predicament?” He asked Dark-Rider. “You have no one to blame but yourselves.” Dark-Rider told him, “Now where did you get your equipment?” “We’ve had it for years!” He said unenthusiastic-ally. “But not your sound equipment.” Dark-Rider pointed out. “Yeah so what’s your point?” “You didn’t buy it so who gave it to you?” Dark-Rider insisted. “It was a gift by an admirer of the band.” He told him. “And you knew it would cause people to turn violent through hypnotic suggestion?” “Yeah, so?” “So then you decided to use it not only to bring chaos but for you loot the town?” Dark-Rider stared at him. “Maybe so.” “We have you on tape what you were planning to do.” Dark-Rider told him. “Your music career is over, even after you get out of jail the only gigs you’ll be doing is in a bar.” “You’ll pay for this; this is your entire fault!” Axer Racer called out to him as he left. Later that night The Silver Killers were released on bail from someone and they met them in a limo. “You the one that bailed us out?” Smoker asked. “Yes,” answered Ruthers, “And how would you like to get back at The Alpha Squad?” “Where do we sign up?” Axer Racer asked as they drove off. Chapter 6
Dark-Rider returned to The Big House and was troubled. However it was nice of The Silverton Police to allow him to go over the equipment. He unloaded the equipment from The Battle Van and placed them in the science room. He found what he had suspected; there was something particular of the sound system. The wiring was different from all of the ones he had researched on the internet. Not only that but there was a device within and he tested it and as sound went through it he could hear the words clear as day that was coming through. He turned it off and then went through their computers. He found an email that was sent to the one called Smoker with instructions on how they were to operate the new sound system. Morning came and The Alpha Squad came down for their morning Holo-Dome session and once that was over they met in The Meeting Room. Dark-Rider briefed them on his findings. “So it would appear that The Society was behind it the entire time.” Dark-Rider concluded. “Why doesn’t that surprise us?” Shieldra mentioned. “But they’re behind bars now…” Blaze started to say. “Until early this morning when they were bailed out.” Jacob reported coming into the room. “Say what?” Light-Blader asked. “It turns out that a female in her mid-forties had bailed them out last night and drove with them out of town.” Jacob explained. “Ruthers.” Frezor slammed his icy fist down on the table. “Correct.” Jacob concurred. “What would they want with them?” Metallacia asked. “Whatever it is it can’t be good.” Dark-Rider said ominously.
Chapter 7
The Silver Killers were brought to The Society’s underground HQ where Cardania was waiting for them. As soon as they were out of the limo they were taken to the lab and were asked to sit down. “Has Ruthers explained to you of the procedure you are about partake?” Cardania asked them and they nodded. "Shall we proceed?” They were sedated after they had lain upon a group of tables and Cardania and his lab techs began their work. Hours later the work was complete. Once they awoken, Cardania contacted Superior for him to look upon The New Silver Killers! “Allow me to introduce them to you my master. The leader Axer Racer has been given the cybernetic power of mobility. His legs have been replaced with wheels, and his arms are like Choppers that can look like metallic hands and changed to axes. Slasher has been given cybernetic hands as well that can turn into scythes. Lasher has cybernetic whips. Metal Head has had a metallic helmet molded into his skull with many different offensive and defensive weapons and a cybernetic eye in the back. Ivory has been given new arms and cybernetic vocal chords that will give her the power of sonic frequencies out of her arms and mouth. Smasher has been given cybernetic hammers in place of his hands just like the others. Smoker has been given cybernetic blowtorches attached within his arms. Basher has been given bulky cybernetic arms which allow him to crush any thing in his path. Roller Baller has been given cybernetic giant metal balls attached on his new cybernetic arms, that he can swing around at will. Last but not least Gordo whose whole body is one cybernetic shell that can allow him to take on the most damage and dish it right back.” “Excellent work. You and Dr. Wrong have out done yourselves.” Superior congratulated. “Thank you my lord.” Cardania bowed, “With them and the Cyber-Destroyers joined together The Alpha Squad will be doomed.” “Just make sure you do not fail me this time.” Superior warned him. “Do not worry my master, well will succeed.” Dr. Wrong bowed as well as Cardania and the screen went blank. “I must return to Superior he will want me to be ready for the next mission.” Ruthers said as she departed. Cardania turned to his new Silver Killers, “Now it is time for you to strike!” Chapter 8
The teens were enjoying the fact that they didn’t have to use their abilities to defeat The Silver Killers. They were at school enjoying their lunch with they heard a crowd of people shouting in celebration. “What in the world is going on out there?” John asked as he looked out the window. They all joined him and saw that The Silver Killers were out there among the crowd. “Looks like our celebration is short lived.” Erin muttered. “People love their celebrities.” Dave commented. “Which is surprising beings that the news stated that they were working for The Society?” Ally brought up. “You think that a bunch of teenagers are going to listen to the media?” Dan asked sarcastically. “Teens are driven by hormones, emotions and most of all fads.” Mike explained, “They only listen to the media of what they want to hear, no more than any other human being.” Then they heard a sonic frequency, “What’s that noise?” He asked the others as he covered his ears, and they all fell to the floor. When they woke up they looked around and saw that they were still in the newspaper room. “What happened?” Erica asked. “Some sort of knockout shock wave.” Angie answered. “Hey! Everyone that was outside is now gone!” John pointed outside. They went out to where the crowd was and they noticed that they were all gone. Unfinished lunches laid out on the table. “Seems like whatever knocked us out knocked them out as well and were taken.” “Yes but why would The Silver Killers take them?” Clara asked. “Something tells me we’ll have to find out soon enough.” Mike told them. “John quickly search the school grounds for anyone else.” “On it boss man.” John saluted and within seconds he was back, “There are still people in the cafeteria and some of the classrooms. And I heard as I was passing by that the school board was given a note saying that The Alpha Squad was to be at this address by 7pm tonight if the hostages were to be released. And the principal has canceled school for the day.” He handed Mike the note. “It’s signed by The Silver Killers.” Mike reported to the others. “But what would they want with us?” Nicole asked. “I’ll explain on the way home.” Mike told her as they left to the parking lot. As they drove on Mike explained his theory, “The Silver Killers were once considered the towns’ heroes, they helped put Silverton back on the map since The Oregon Gardens. Now that they have joined up with The Society as a backer they have felt the town has turned their back on them since they joined up with evil.” “But not the entire town feels that way.” Ally reminded him. “True, but since we discovered their plot and had them arrested by the towns’ police force they blame the whole town. Now they have somehow been able to kidnap some of their own fans to get to us.” Mike finished saying as they drove up to The Big House. They went into the house and went into the library. From there Mike pressed in the book that deactivated the hologram of the book shelf disguising the elevator that led to their underground Headquarters. Once they were down there they were met by Jacob Cagney stationed at I.Q. “All the TV stations are already covering the story that The Silver Killers have abducted their fans. A lot of outraged parents are right now outside of City Hall protesting that the police do something since it was them who released The Silver Killers on bail.” Jacob briefed them. “Unfortunately it is not the police that The Silver Killers want.” Dark-Rider said as his Bio-Suit covered his body but with a thought. “They want us The Alpha Squad.” He then told Jacob his theory. “A brilliant deduction by friend.” Jacob patted him on the shoulder. “It is time for us to leave and set those kids free!” Shieldra said as she and the others approached them. “Then let’s get a move on!” Dark-Rider called out and they left.
Chapter 9
The Alpha Squad arrived at the address that was given which turned out to be the warehouse that was being used by The Society. “Why a warehouse? It’s always a warehouse.” Sparks commented. “You can give them ideas for a new hideout after we’re done taking care of business Sparks.” Dark-Rider told him as he led them into the building. “Why don’t we sneak attack?” Metallacia asked. “One: We’re expected and two: We don’t want them to hurt their hostages.” Blaze told her. “Oh right.” Metallacia shook her head. They went inside and were met by Cardania, Dr. Wrong, The Cyber-Destroyers, and The Silver Killers. “Oh what a nice welcoming committee.” Molder muttered softly. “Finally you have come.” Cardania observed. “Release the hostages as agreed.” Dark-Rider demanded. “I don’t think so.” Axer Racer countered. “We want to show them that we are more powerful than you.” “Power is not the only thing that proves one is better than another.” Dark-Rider told him. “We shall see.” Axer Racer said evilly as he turned his metallic hands into axes and motioned the others to activate their new weapons. “Cyber-Destroyers and Silver Killers destroy them!” Dr. Wrong commanded. “With pleasure.” Axer Racer said with an evil smile. “Everyone scatter!” Dark-Rider commanded, “Divide and Conquer!” Dark-Rider unsheathed The Sword of Leadership and defended himself against Axer Racer. Molder went up against Roller Baller, Basher and Smasher. They did their best of trying to smash and destroy Molder but he turned himself into mud which allowed their attacks to go through him without harm. He threw mud into their eyes, and as they were distracted he turned himself into concrete and punched them knocking them out. Blaze tangled up with Lasher and Smoker. The fire that came out of Smokers' flamethrowers was absorbed by Blaze and returned the favor causing his flamethrowers destroying his arms. Lasher threw out his whips of steel and electricity and they latched themselves on. The whips began to electrocute her, and the pain began to aggravate her! “Don’t you know that when you play with fire? You get burned!” She asked him and she sent fire through the whips and melted within his arms and she fired fire balls at him to take him out of the fight. Slasher and Yin-Yang went up against Star-Girl and Light-Blader. The sisters switched it up off and on to keep their enemies off balance. “I’ve waited a long time to face you traitor!” Yin-Yang threatened Star-Girl who at one time had been apart of The Cyber-Destroyers until it was revealed to her that she wasn’t a cyborg but a Guardian! They grappled at each other trying to get the upper hand over the other but it was thanks to Yin-Yang’s cybernetics that gave her the advantage over her foe. She pushed her down to the ground. “Star-Girl switch with me!” Mindra intervened. They switched for Mindra was a match for Yin-Yang. When they first encountered Mindra was able abstract all of Yin-Yang’s ninja moves and abilities. Mindra easily defeated her with ease as always using her new judo moves that she had learned over the past few months and then stunned her. Light-Blader defended herself from Slashers’’ attacks. Using her ability to make any form of weapon out of light. She formed a shield in her left hand a sword in her right hand. She sliced at his wrist which cut off his weapon of choice. He hollered in pain as the cybernetic wires were connected to his nerves. She took advantage of the distraction and bashed him with her shield. Star-Girl had switched with Mindra who was facing Metal Head. She approached him from behind but thanks to his cybernetic rear eye he was able to detect her and fired a laser beam at her. But thanks to her ability to absorb energy, she absorbed it and then channeled it back to him and blasted him into a nearby wall. Metallacia faced up with Ivory who was attempting to use her sonic attacks against the metallic heroine. “I just hope this funnel will work just like it did against Harpy.” Metallacia told herself as she made a metallic funnel. Ivory blasted her with a series of vibrations and they went through the funnel and routed right back to Ivory and she was knocked out. Gordo and Rocko joined up together to ice Frezor. “We’re gonna turn you into ice cubes!” They said together.
“Are you sure your not twins?” Frezor asked as he threw ice spikes at them but they bounced right off. “Now that was unexpected.” They flanked him and charged at him from two sides. “Talk about the unstoppable force versus the immovable object and with me in the middle.” He had to time his dodge perfectly and just as they were about to crush him, Frezor baseball slid out of the way and they ended up charging at one another knocking each other out. “Looks like that theory has been proven…both knocked each other out!” he laughed. It was now down to Dark-Rider and Axer Racer whom had been in combat since the beginning of the battle. “Your good Dark-Rider but I’m better.” “Pride comes before the fall Racer!” Dark-Rider warned him. “What fall?” “This one.” Dark-Rider said as he dodged Axer Racers’ attack and ducked. Using The Sword of Leadership he sliced at Racers’ tires and they caused him to fall, and as he fell Dark-Rider stunned him. “We must get out of here!” Caradania cried out. “Yes we must…” Dr. Wrong started to say but Sparks zapped them both! “Well that settles that!” Shieldra stated. “The odds were against us but we used our minds as well as our abilities.” Blaze brought up. “But most of all team work.” Mindra finished. “Not only that but The Society lost a good chunk of its force.” Dark-Rider added, “Now let’s get these goons to the authorities.” “Let’s not forget the hostages.” Metallacia reminded them and they released them.
Chapter 10
The teens began their new week with no mishaps. Majority of their enemies were now in jail or in prison. All that was left was Superior and a few of his miscreants. Whom they knew would soon bring them trouble but until then they would prepare themselves for their next battle. Superior looked up on his remaining troops. “Ruthers, Technonia, Cykrill, and The Trap Masters. You are all that’s left of my army.” Superior told them. “Unless you have a plan to finally defeat The Alpha Squad I don’t want to see you in my sights until you do!” “As you command Superior.” Ruthers bowed and they all left. Once they were out of the room they discussed among themselves. “Everything we try there seems to be no way to defeat The Alpha Squad.” Cykrill pointed out. “But daddy, we must do something.” Technonia whined. “I agree with her.” Ruthers nodded, “We must do something or find something.” “What about us are we chop liver?” Camo asked. “Actually your services are no longer required at this time.” Ruthers said and a group of Cyber-Drones surrounded them. “You’ll be contacted if we want to hire you again.” “I have it!” Cykrill said later as they were in the library. “Thanks to Caradanias’ research of The Dark-Rider we may have a way to defeat them!” “And what is that?” Technonia asked. “The Sword of Chaos!” Ruthers read out loud with an evil smile.
