The Alpha Squad: Nightmarish BlackmailA Story by Michael GillNightmarish Blackmail
Chapter 1
It was a beautiful September afternoon and the teens known to the world as The Alpha Squad had just met in the parking lot of their high school to discuss their after school plans. “Well I got three tests tomorrow.” Clara spoke up immediately. “Yeah same here.” Dave admitted, and Dan nodded his head as well. “There’s a new video game arcade that just opened up in the old Safeway building.” Erica suggested. “Sounds like fun to me, anyone else?” Mike asked, and John, Angie, Ally, and Erin raised their hands. “We’ll see you guys back at The Big House.” Dan told them as they got into Dan’s car. “Well shall we be on our way?” John asked as they got into the van and left to the arcade. Once they were inside of the building they saw a lot of their friends in the arcade playing video games or playing mini-golf. There was also a room for Laser-Tag and Paint Ball, Air Hockey Tables, and also Pool tables. “Now this is my type of place.” Mike said joyfully. “Why am I not surprised!” John shook his head and laughed. “This type of place is for anyone who wants to have a good time.” A familiar voice came from behind them and they saw their old nemeses…THE GAMER! “Sorry if I startled you. “What are you doing here?” Ally asked. “I own this place.” He answered her proudly, “I gave up the life of crime when The U.N. gave me a pardon.” “Well that’s good to hear Hector.” Angie told him. “Why thank you, and to answer your next question John, yes I am no longer going by the name of THE GAMER!” He assured him. “Now this is your first time being here correct?” They nodded to say that was true, “Good so here’s $5.00 of quarters for each of you for the video games. Then here’s also a ticket to play 5 rounds of pool or air hockey, or trade that all in for an hour session at laser tag or paintball.” “That’s very generous of you.” Mike thanked him. “The first time here at The Gamers’ Palace, if you would mind the bad pun, is free.” He explained. “What’s in that room there?” Erin asked as she pointed to the room titled “The Fear Room.” “That will be our version of a virtual reality room for a haunted house game; it’s taking a bit of time for it to be set up.” Hector answered. “Well I can’t wait for it to be done.” Mike said, “I’m sure that it will have some awesome detailed graphics.” “A man that knows his tastes in video games, I’m sure you will have a great time playing the old school arcade ones.” He offered. “Actually, we were thinking of playing an hour session of Laser Tag.” Mike told him. “Very well, the gear to play is next to the door.” Hector escorted them. Once they were in their gear he explained the rules, “Last person or team to survive until the time expires is the winner. You have an hour, and if you finish before that hour is up than you can start a new round by pressing the green button next to the timer. Any questions?” “I believe we’re all set to go.” Mike told him. “Well good luck and happy hunting.” Hector told them as he left the area. “So how should we do this?” John asked, “Teams or solo?” “Well let’s see there are six of us, so how about we go into pairs. Erica and I, John and Angie, Erin and Ally.” “Sounds good to me.” Ally said holding up her laser gun, and the others nodded in agreement. “Well let’s get into our places and may the best team win.” Mike said and they split up into their teams and began the hunt. Hector went into The Fear Room which was still in the process of being built. He went past the hallway until the came to a door across the way, he went in and said, “Did you see our new guests?” Dr. Nightmare adjusted the monitors to see the teens having a good time hiding from one another playing paintball. “The Alpha Brats!” He spat, “What are they doing here?” “Having fun like everyone else my dear doctor, presently company excluded.” Hector said with glee. “We can’t have them interfering.” Dr. Nightmare said with caution, “Maybe we should use the rooms’ lasers to take care of them.” “No!” Hector forbade, “As far as they are concerned I have reformed.” “And they believe you?” “But of course! I have been pardoned by highest of law! As well as you my friend.” “True, but for our plans to go into fruition we must not have them interfere.” Dr. Nightmare said ominously. “Agreed, if they do come even an inch close of finding out what are true intentions are then I will have Technonia take care of them to throw them off track.” “Sounds good to me.” Dr. Nightmare agreed and went back to his monitoring. The teens’ hour was up in The Laser Tag room and as they began to take off the gear Hector asked them if they had fun, and they said they had great time. Hector insisted that they stay and played some video games. “Thanks Hector, we would like to but we need to be going and get our homework done.” Mike thanked him. “Not only that, but Mike and Erica cheaters.” Ally complained. “How so?” Hector asked. “Mike has hunting and tracking experience.” John explained briefly. “Ah I see which gave him the upper hand.” Hector acknowledged with awe. “Yeah, I know that doesn’t really make them a couple of cheaters…” Ally started to say. “But we feel cheated.” Angie finished. “Well be sure to come back, and maybe from this learning experience you can beat them the next time.” Hector told them. “Sounds like a plan, we can’t tomorrow, but we should be able to do so the next day.” Mike assured him. “Excellent, I shall see you then.” Hector quickly bowed and then left their presence. He went back into the monitoring room with Dr. Nightmare, “Two hours till closing time. How many subjects do we have?” “Ten at this point.” Dr. Nightmare answered. “Not a bad start, I’ll have emails sent to them by closing time, and then we’ll really make some serious cash!” Hector began to laugh evilly. The teens returned to The Big House and they told the others of the fun they had missed out. “Hey Mike, could you teach us how to hunt and track like you do?” Ally asked. “I can teach you, but you must be patient and observant.” He told her. “Aye, aye.” Ally saluted. “Actually it won’t be a bad idea for all of you to learn.” Jacob mentioned. “Agreed, I’ll create a Holo-Dome program for all you tomorrow.” Mike assured them and they went about their day until it was time for bed.
Chapter 2
Dark-Rider had finished the program for his friends for the following morning. He then went to I.Q. to see if there were any evil afoot. The reports show that all was quiet tonight. “Well looks like I’ll be able to catch up on some reading.” Then all of the sudden an alarm went off, “So much for that idea.” He activated his Bio-Suit, and hopped on Shadow. Within minutes he was at the front of the Silverton Bank of the Prestige. It was a bank that all the rich families banked at and there stood a young man with a bag full of money. “A little late for a withdrawal don’t you think?” Dark-Rider asked him. “It’s not what you think; I just had to get money out of my account.” The young man explained in fear. “I don’t understand why you need all of that?” Dark-Rider asked confused. “Because if I don’t, my secret will get out.” “Why don’t you explain.” Dark-Rider offered. “I received an email tonight before I went to bed and it showed a video of me…doing something illegal. The message that followed said that if I don’t come up with the money within 24 hours that it will be played all over the internet. So I came here and hacked into my college account to get the money that I needed.” “But with doing that you alerted my alarm which means soon the police will be here.” Dark-Rider told him. “But if I don’t…” All of the sudden the police arrived, and Dark-Rider was gone. From a building down the street he could see the police arresting the young man whom he now recognized as Leroy Spence. He tried to tell them of what happened but they carried him away. “This looks like it’s gonna be a long night.” Dark-Rider commented to himself. As the night went on he was able to stop four robberies of twelve within the Silverton and Salem areas. Around four in the morning he returned to The Big House where the others were waiting for him to arrive. “You guys are up early this morning.” He commented as he got off of the motor-cycle. “We figured like any good hunter we would get up early.” Molder told him as he turned himself into cement. “Before we begin that I need to brief all of you on what’s going on.” He told them as they went into The Meeting Room. He explained to them what had happened and the robberies he was able to stop, and notes of those of whom he was unable to stop. “Those that succeeded in their thefts took out a total of $10,000...each.” “That’s quite a bit of money.” Blaze agreed. “But why would anyone want to blackmail them?” Frezor asked. “I think the better question is how they are doing it.” Sparks argued, “How are they obtaining the information of each person as well as the email sent to them.” “Maybe it’s The Gamer.” Mindra suggested. “Let’s not jump into conclusions.” Dark-Rider warned, “At least we shall give him the benefit of doubt…for now.” “Well then who else could it be?” Metallacia asked. “There’s Dr. Nightmare.” Star-Girl suggested. “True, he likes to feed upon other’s fears.” Jacob agreed ominously. “What about Technonia?” Shieldra asked. “Possibly, she would have the hacking capabilities.” Dark-Rider nodded. “Let’s focus on those two for now, until we have reason that The Gamer could be involved in this caper. But shall we now begin our morning session?” He offered as they went to the dome shaped room that was The Holo-Dome. “Now who wants to go first?” “Since it was my idea I’ll go first.” Mindra volunteered. “Program is set.” Dark-Rider said as he pressed the buttons on the control pad. “Solo or team mission?” “Solo.” Mindra said as she activated her Bio-Suit. “Okay, I’ve programmed for you to hunt and track down two holograms. One is Chopper and his sister Yin-Yang.” Dark-Rider began to brief her, “Now they will be cloaked, so you won’t be able to see them. Use your other senses, hearing, smell, etc.”
“I’ll keep that in mind.” She told him as she walked in. Once she was inside she found herself in a familiar place that she as Silver Falls State Park. “At least I know where I’m at.” She started to walk on the trail until she noticed a set of footprints leading off of the trail. She followed the tracks until they disappeared. She started to listen intensely around and she could hear the servos of the Cyber-Destroyers legs. She looked up into the trees and saw the rustling of the leaves. She started to aim her Stun Blaster to where she felt they were and just as she was about to get the shot off she was blasted from behind and the simulation ended. She came out of the room and asked, “What happened? I could’ve sworn I heard them up in the trees.” “You did, but only one of them.” Dark-Rider told her, “The one in the trees was Chopper and the one that hit you from behind…” “Was Yin-Yang.” She nodded disappointingly. “Not bad for a first try?” “Not bad at all, it’ll take you, all of you to get these skills down. It took me at least five hunting trips with my dad before I was able to track down my first deer.” Dark-Rider explained to them. “What did you do when you found it?” Light-Blader asked. “I let it go.” He admitted. “Why’d you do that?” Frezor asked. “Killing is not in me, even something like a deer or an elk. It’s alive whom am I to take its life?” “I bet your dad wasn’t happy.” Molder added. “No he wasn’t, not at first that is. Once I explained to him why I did what I did he understood…to a point. That deer would’ve given us meat for at least two months.” “Well I don’t know about you, but it’s almost time to get ready for school.” Shieldra brought up to the group, “We best get going.”
Chapter 3
The Gamer flipped the cash in his hand, and smelled it. “I do love the smell of blackmailed money in the morning. Don’t you?” He asked Dr. Nightmare. “Indeed I do. Though four of our victims were caught last night.” “True, but they have received their worst nightmare.” Hector said with glee, “No need to post their fears on the internet now they have been incarcerated.” “Did you erase their emails that were sent to them?” Dr. Nightmare asked. “Technonia took care of it once those idiots were arrested. Also as it turns out The Dark-Rider was seen stalling one of our victims until he was arrested. “Interesting how he is always interfering in our plans.” Dr. Nightmare admired darkly. “He actually stopped the four that was arrested last night.” Technonia told them, “I hacked into the cameras across from the banks and saw that “hero” stopping them in their tracks.” “Well we still were able to get $80,000 out of the first run.” Gamer said smelling the money again. “First run?” Technonia asked in disbelief, “You mean you’re going to do this again tonight?” “But of course.” Dr. Nightmare answered proudly, “But tonight will be different. You and your creations will distract Dark-Rider and The Alpha Squad so that way they won’t interfere again.” “Just make sure there is no way of them tracing this back to you.” Technonia warned them. “We’ve taken every precaution to ensure just that.” Gamer said, “And now we must wait to see what victims will fall prey to us.”
Chapter 4
The teens came to school and walked down Senior Hall listening to the rumors of some of their classmates. Four of them had been arrested by the police for robbery, and were making up stories that they were being black mailed. “Wow word travels fast.” Erin said in surprise. “Thank the cheerleaders for that Erin.” Dan told her. “Well I wonder what the truth behind all of this is?” Nicole wondered, as they listened in to the rumors. “It would seem that at least they’re mentioning your involvement.” Erica mentioned to Mike. “Yeah at least they got it right in saying I helped with the arresting.” Mike murmured. “So what’s the plan for now?” Dave asked. “We go on throughout the day and try to gather as much info as we can…discreetly.” Mike instructed. “Well see you at first lunch.” John told them as the others took off leaving Mike and Erica alone. “So what class do you have first, beings this is the first day of school.” She wondered. “I have band, then choir, and then band again.” He told her. “I’m in choir as well.” She piped as they walked. “Cool, what part?” “Alto.” “I’m a Tenor/Baritone.” “Maybe we could do a duet?” She suggested. “We’ll see that will all depend on the new choir director.” Mike said as he started to walk away. “Where you going?” She asked out loud. “I got band remember.” He said in disbelief, “I’ll see you in an hour.” He walked away, “Good grief Charlie Brown the girls’ got a crush on ya.” The day went on as usual, half of the group met up at first lunch, and the others met at second lunch. They all met back at The Big House when school was out to brief one another on what they had heard throughout the day. “Well according to all the info we have gathered there was a total of twelve people that were blackmailed via email. Once they were able to drop off the money the email was erased from their accounts.” Mike said in summary, “Then those who were arrested their emails were erased.” “So who are our suspects?” Angie asked. “According those whom I had helped apprehended the video that was sent showed their greatest fears.” Mike started to say. “The only person we know would do that is Dr. Nightmare.” Nicole brought up. “But he would need help with that type of technology…” Dan said as his voice began to trail off. “Technonia.” Erin finished. “But what about The Gamer?” John wondered, “He’d probably be involved as well.” “Let’s not jump to conclusions; right now we have no conclusive evidence that he’s involved.” Mike warned them. “Well there’s one way for us to find out whether that’s true or not. I can trace the emails of all those whom were blackmailed.” John said as he went towards I.Q. “But how, the police report said that they couldn’t trace it once it was erased from their accounts.” Clara brought up. “Yes, but they don’t have I.Q.” John reminded her, “I installed a program in after Stretch Jerk betrayed us to ensure that if something like that ever happened again then we could easily trace the electronic transactions make through any electrical device not including our own.” “Talk about your invasion of privacy.” Dan grunted. “Well I don’t use if for recreation if you that’s what you mean.” John scolded. “Just trace the emails Sparks.” Dark-Rider said as he activated his Bio-Suit. “Blaze, Metallacia, Star-Girl and Molder you guys take the east and south districts. Mindra you stay here with Sparks, the rest of you are with me.” Technonia monitored via satellite images of the town of Silverton. She loved the small town when she pretended to be someone else. She still wished at times that she didn’t have to give up her identity when she did, for it was the only time that she close to the man she wanted to be with. But of course he was the enemy, the one that had defeated her father twice, and also the one responsible that her father was now being refitted for a new cybernetic body which is why she was willing to help Gamer and Dr. Nightmare in the first place. She needed her share of the money to repair her father, but until then he was stuck being the personality for the central computer for The Society. The monitor beeped showing The Alpha Squad dispersing themselves throughout the town. “Ah so you’re out and about are you? Well let’s keep you from interfering.” She got up from her chair went into the warehouse next door to the arcade where her Techno-Drones were being processed. “Ah Technonia.” Cardania noted as he saw her come in, “And what do I owe the pleasure?” “Are the Techno-Drones ready?” She asked him. “I have 50 units ready and of course I also have 35 of my own Cyber-Drones at your disposal.” He informed her. “Excellent! The Alpha Squad is patrolling the area and we can’t have them snooping around.” “Agreed, here are the controls.” He handed her the device. “Have fun my dear.” As Molder and his team moved along the streets of Silverton driving in The Battle Van, which he had felt that he been driving for days instead of hours, since it was nearly 3 am. He couldn’t help think of how impossible the information that Sparks had just given to them and the others. Sparks had reported that the emails he was able to recover showed the persons greatest fear as if they were being played through their eyes. “No wonder they paid the money.” He thought to himself. Especially since the blackmailers were going to show it all over the internet if they hadn’t have paid. All of the sudden he hit the breaks and just in time too since he had nearly ran over a group of Cyber-Drones. “Guys we got trouble.” They filed out of The Battle Van and began their attack against their adversaries. Molder didn’t waste any time as he formed from his hands giant hammers made up of concrete, and began to smash away!
Blaze would place Rings of Fire around groups of them as Star-Girl shot them down with Star-Bolts. Metallacia formed her hands to blades of titanium and sliced up the rest. “Where did they come from?” Blaze asked. “I’m not sure, but it’s best to report this to Dark-Rider.” Molder said as returned to human form in his Bio-Suit to protect who he was. “Molder to Dark-Rider, you there boss man?” “I read you Molder but I’m a little too busy to talk.” He told him as he drew out The Laser Blade out of its sheath. “Technonia has new toys for me and the others to play with.” “Would you like our assistance?” Blaze asked. “That would actually be appreciated.” Light-Blader answered. “There’s a little more than 30 of these things.” “We’ve locked on your coordinates.” Metallacia reported, “We’ll be there in five minutes.” “Trust me we’ll be glad to see you.” Shieldra told them as she blocked an attack with a shield. “That attack nearly broke through my shield.” She thought to herself. “Need to hit them hard and fast!” As Dark-Rider and Light-Blader fought off their mechanical adversaries Technonia taunted them, “How do you like my new Techno-Drones? They’re smarter, faster, and stronger than those Cyber-Drones that Cardania makes.” “That’s funny I was just about to say they’re look just annoying as your voice!” Dark-Rider countered as he sliced a head off of one of them, but the thing kept fighting him. “Okay that’s new.” “See what I mean by smarter?” Technonia asked sarcastically. “They don’t need a head to keep fighting.” “She’s right, I have to slice them up three or four, even up to five times before they go down.” Light-Blader panted. “And my ice spikes hardly go through them.” Frezor admitted, “I’ve had to deep freeze them just so they will shatter.” “Not only have that but Stun Bolts had no affect on them either.” Shieldra said as she kept dodging one attack from another.” “Just keep fighting team!” Dark-Rider encouraged them. “Molder and his team will be here momentarily.” They fought on with determination, fending off these new mechanical misfits. They were glad when they saw the others pulling up in The Battle Van. The members in The Battle Van fired a couple of shots from the Plasma Cannons. “I hope that’ll help out?” Molder called out as they came out of the van. “It did!” Dark-Rider assured them, “Now help us finish up these things!” Technonia could see her plan was falling apart. Molder had caused the pavement around some of them to go soft to where they sunk into the ground and was never seen again. Blaze had to use intense heat but was able to melt them down. The traitor Star-Girl helped out Shieldra; finish off those whom had been oppressing her. Metallacia grabbed a hold of one of them and was able to copy off the type of metal. Within a matter of minutes after their friends had come to help there was only 10 left. Dark-Rider looked to Light-Blader, “You ready to try out our new attack?” “You know it!” She answered with her blades at the ready. “Trifecta Blade Attack!” They said together as they threw their blades at the Techno-Drones. The Laser Blade cut off all off the heads, as Light-Bladers’ two blades cut them at their upper torso and legs. The blade returned to them and the machines went down to the ground in pieces. “The Rise and Fall of The Machines!” Dark-Rider called out. “You did not just say that.” Shieldra said shaking her head. “He can’t help it, he’s a geek.” Molder reminded her. “You can gloat all you want Alpha Squad but I’ll be…” Technonia began to say the old villain catch phrase when Sparks ran up and grabbed a hold of her. “I don’t think so sweet heart.” he told her as he sent out an electrical current throughout her armor and she passed out. “Hey! I thought I was the only one that you called sweet heart!” Metallacia protested. “Metallacia don’t be so insecure.” Frezor told her. “Yeah it’s a very unattractive trait.” Molder agreed. “Don’t listen to them,” Blaze walked up to her, “Men are more insecure than we are.” “Could we hold off the stereotypical debate for later?” Dark-Rider asked them rhetorically, “We need to get back to base.” They grabbed their prisoner and left. Chapter 5
The Gamer and Dr. Nightmare monitored Technonia being taken away from The Alpha Squad. “Should we do something to rescue her?” Dr. Nightmare asked. “No, she played her part.” Gamer answered as he counted the money that they had just received that morning. “Besides she knew the risk she was taking when going up against our foes.” “Still the last thing I want to do is by on Cykrills’ bad side when he get’s a new body.” Dr. Nightmare admitted. “Are you telling me that the great Dr. Nightmare is afraid?” Gamer teased him. “Of course I’m not afraid you pipsqueak!” He got into his face enraged. “Okay, okay, no need to get ugly now.” Gamer said put his hands up, “Besides, they’ll most likely turn her over to the authorities and our lawyers will have her out within a couple of days.” “Yes but she knows of our plan.” Dr. Nightmare reminded him. “So?” “So even if she doesn’t talk then Mindra will siphon the information out of her.” Dr. Nightmare explained. “Oh ye of little faith, why do you doubt my genius?” Gamer asked him. “What do you mean?” “Let’s just say I have left them a nice surprise.” Gamer said with glee and continued counting the money. “Sometimes I wonder what runs through that diabolical mind of yours.” Dr. Nightmare said. “Yes, well just remember one thing my friend. I am no more evil than you.” Gamer said looking at him seriously. “But now let us prepare for our guests.” “Guests?” “But of course, The Alpha Squad should be arriving very soon.” Chapter 6
Once The Alpha Squad had returned to The Big House they escorted Technonia to their interrogation room. “I’ll go in with Mindra.” Dark-Rider began to say, “If she refuses to cooperate, then Mindra will abstract it from her mind. If she does answer my questions I want Sparks, Frezor, and Jacob to monitor this screen here. If the thermal goes red that means she is lying. If it stays blue than she is telling the truth.” They nodded signaling that they understood. Dark-Rider and Mindra went into the room, and looked at her. “Now Technonia you will answer my questions or Mindra here will abstract it from your brain. Who is behind the blackmails?” “I have no idea what you are talking about.” Technonia said with a snooty tone. “Very well then the hard way then…Mindra.” Dark-Rider nodded to his friend. Mindra walked up to Technonia and placed her hands onto Technonias’ head and was about to abstract the information out of her mind when Dark-Rider saw an evil smile form over Technonias’ mouth. “Mindra! Wait don’t do it!” But it was too late Mindra had already began the abstraction process and when she did she screamed in horror and she let go of Technonias’ head and fell to the ground. “Frezor, Sparks! Mindra needs medical attention now!” The two rushed in and Sparks grabbed her and sped towards the medical bay, and Frezor followed after him. Dark-Rider looked hard at the psycho tied up in the chair. “You better hope that she lives.” He then left the room with Molder and Star-Girl guarding the door. By the time Dark-Rider got to the medical bay Sparks had told everyone to leave the room for he had to an emergency Separation of a Bio-Suit procedure. “What’s does he mean by that?” Light-Blader asked. “It means her Bio-Suit has been infected with a virus when she attempted the abstraction process.” Jacob began to explain. “Any time a Bio-Suit has been infected it must be immediately be separated from its owner otherwise the results would most likely end in death. Like I’ve mentioned when I gave all of you your Bio-Suits that they are of a symbiotic nature, whatever it takes you take, and whatever you use it for, it will amplify. Whether be a punch or a jump into the air.” “What will happen to her Bio-Suit once it’s been separated?” Blaze asked. “It will be destroyed once Sparks is able to pin-point the infection and create an anti-virus program for that specific virus for her new Bio-Suit.” Jacob answered and they continued to watch the procedure being done. Once the separation was complete Sparks wasted no time finding the virus and immediately made an anti-virus program and saved it into The Bio-Suit computer and then rushed the old one to be destroyed in a special containment unit. When he came back told them that it was destroyed. Frezor went into the medical bay and have Ally a look over, and nodded with a smile saying that she would be okay. “Praise God she’ll be fine!” Jacob said clapping his hands with joy. “She may be fine, but I know a certain psycho-chick that won’t be.” Dark-Rider told the others coldly. He walked back to the interrogation room and went back in. “How’s your friend? Did she die horribly?” Technonia laughed evilly, and her answer was a stun bolt that knocked her out. Dark-Rider grabbed her out of the chair and put her over his shoulder. He began to walk out of the room, and the others asked what he was going to do with her, “Watch and find out.” Technonia dreamed she was flying in the air. She was dreaming that Dark-Rider had seen the error of his ways and had joined forces with her and The Society. Then she dreamed that they had taken over The Society for Dark-Rider had killed Superior and his head was Dark-Riders wedding gift to her. After they were married….SLAP! “Wake up you worthless witch!” She heard him say as she was continued being slapped awake! Once she was awake she realized she was flying! She looked down and saw that she was miles above the ground. “So this is how we’re going to do this, either you tell me who is in charge of the blackmailing or I’ll drop you and let you fall to your death!” “You…you…wouldn’t.” She said fearfully. “Mindra is dead because of what you did to her! So either you tell me what I want to know, or the term a life for a life will come into play do you understand me?” She nodded, “Now who is in charge?” “I can’t tell you!” “If you change your mind there is a microphone installed in your suit. All you have to is say the names and I will save you.” He explained to her. “I told you that I can’t.” She cried tearfully. “Then this is good-bye Technonia.” He told her with a deadly stare, he then took his mask off partially, kissed her, and then let her go. He could hear her scream as she fell through the clouds. Then as she had fallen nearly two miles, he heard her call out. “Gamer….Dr. Nightmare!” She called out over and over. “I.Q. end simulation.” Dark-Rider said and the area around him returned to the dome form of The Holo-Dome and Technonia dropped to the ground. She looked at the ground in horror, “It was a trick?” She then looked at Dark-Rider and asked again, “It was a trick?” “Yes.” He answered honestly. “But you kissed me.” She cried, “Why did you?” “To give you an incentive.” He told her as he picked her up from the ground. “But I have no feelings for you.” “And Mindra?” “Is alive.” Mindra said coming into the room. “This all was to…” Technonia began to say. “To get the truth.” Dark-Rider told her, “None of it was real.” “Then I guess we’ll never be?” “Never! For my heart will belong to one that serves the purpose for good and not of evil.” Dark-Rider told her. “But what will you do to me now?” She asked. “You’ll be handed to the proper authorities. Where you will be judged for the crimes you have committed.” Dark-Rider stared at her hard, “Just be glad that murder isn’t one of them.” He then handed her over to Jacob who wore a mask to protect his identity. “You’ll pay for this Dark-Rider…You’ll…” She called out until Mindra shot her with stun bolt. “Villains…you think they would come up with better lines now these days.” Mindra said with a hint of sarcasm. “Glad to see you back on your feet Mindra.” Dark-Rider told her. “Glad to be back, and give a little payback to that psycho.” “I seriously thought you were actually going to go through with actually going to drop her to her death.” Molder said with relief he saw the others coming back from The Simulator. “Far as I knew you were heading to the skylight.” “I was at first, but then I remembered that I am no killer even though she may have deserved the real thing. But then I thought that if she hadn’t said the names then she would’ve fallen to her death and that would be on my conscious forever.” He explained. “So our speculations of Gamer and Dr. Nightmare were correct?” Metallacia asked. “Yes, they are the master minds behind this caper.” Dark-Rider answered. “But what about Technonia?” Light-Blader asked. “A pawn more than anything.” Shieldra answered. “She was to distract us from what Gamer and Dr. Nightmare were really up to.” “So what’s the plan now?” Star-Girl asked. “Grab your gear.” Dark-Rider said motioning them to activate their Bio-Suits, “We’re going to the arcade.”
Chapter 7
Word had gotten to Gamer and Dr. Nightmare that Technonia had been captured and was on her way to jail. “Well so much for her share.” Gamer said as he began to recount the money. “How can you count money at a time like this?” Dr. Nightmare asked him. “What do you mean my dear doctor?” “The Alpha Squad will most likely be coming here in a matter of minutes.” Dr. Nightmare told him. “Let them come! I’m ready for them!” “Maybe you are, but I’m not!” He told him as he began to grab the money, and then he found himself being lifted up from the ground. “Who dares?” he asked as he saw that it was Mega-Rex that had grabbed him. “Now you will listen to my plan, or I’m going to be a bit richer.” Gamer told him. “I’m listening.” Dr. Nightmare gulped. “Excellent. Now here’s my plan.” Gamer then began to tell him. The Alpha Squad approached the arcade with caution. Now that they knew whom they were dealing with, they knew that they could not take any chances. Dark-Rider peered through the windows and saw that no one was in there. He nodded and opened the door. “It would seem that we are to be expected.” Molder said whispered. “It would seem that way wouldn’t it?” Frezor asked rhetorically. They walked in and spread throughout the room to make sure that there were not any bad guys hiding behind the video game consoles. Sparks looked at one of them and studied it, and looked up and found something. “Hey guys over here.” He called them to him. “This is how they have been blackmailing people. A person would be playing a video game and right up here above the screen is a small dot that would most likely shoot out the same ray that Dr. Nightmare’s beams are made up of.” “But instead of putting into the mind he was taking out of it.” Blaze concluded. “That is correct Alpha Brats!” Dr. Nightmares’ voice came through the intercom. “But I couldn’t do it without the help of my friend The Gamer!” “We should’ve known the whole going straight was just a fib.” Mindra countered. “But of course my dear Mindra, or should I say Ally?” Gamers’ voice broke in. “Don’t forget I know who you all really are.” “And we know who you are also Gamer!” Shieldra proclaimed, “A coward and a murderer.” “Sticks and stones, sticks and stones.” Gamer said playfully, “But I don’t think we should be wasting anymore time.” “You’re right Gamer.” Dark-Rider agreed, “Now why don’t you and the shrink come out and give yourselves up.?” “Always the diplomat first aren’t you Dark-Rider?” Dr. Nightmare asked him. “But I think not. For in the Paintball/Laser-Tag room is a room full of hostages, and if you don’t believe me just look at the monitor that is in front of the room. The Alpha Squad peered onto the screen and saw that he wasn’t lying. “Now come into the fear room.” They did as he told them and instead of finding themselves in a room they found themselves standing before a Castle to the left and a Haunted House to the right. “I’m in the Haunted House and Gamer is in the Castle. We each have a key card for that you will need to set the hostages free. Without both of them the hostages will die.” “And as you see in front of the Castle is a village, and in front of Haunted House is a cemetery. Both places are full of traps and creatures to fight.” Gamer explained, “And once you get into each place you will have to fight off other hideous beings before finding us. Oh and did I forget to mention that you have exactly 4 hours starting…now! Good luck!” “Molder, you take Shieldra, Frezor, Blaze and Star-Girl, and take on Dr. Nightmare in the Haunted House.” Dark-Rider instructed, “Mindra, Sparks, Metallacia, and Light-Blader you’re with me to the Castle. Time is of the essence let’s move out!”
Chapter 8
Molder led his team through the cemetery and realized that they were now in the middle of it. “Um Molder don’t you think they should start attacking us soon?” Star-Girl asked him. “I’m with Star-Girl; we should be ready for anything.” Frezor said with caution. “Would you guys just look behind you for a moment?” Molder suggested and when they did they saw that the whole cemetery was being covered in cement. “There’s no way that we’ll be attacked from behind.” “But what about ahead of us?” Shieldra asked as she pointed in front of them. “Did you think about them?” There stood before them were zombies, mummies, and skeletons. “I knew there was a flaw in my plan.” Molder admitted sheepishly. “Blaze incinerate the zombies and mummies! The rest of us will take care of the skeletons!” Blaze flew up into the air and started to form Rings of Fire around the zombies and Fire Spirals through the mummies. Molder and the others fought off the skeletons in their own ways. Molder formed giant hammer of cement that crushed them. Frezor made an ice shield and sword to fight off his attackers. Star-Girl blasted them with her Star-Bolts, and Shieldra formed invisible shields that slammed her opponents into walls that surrounded the cemetery. Within minutes there was nothing left of their enemies. They approached the house and Molder busted down the door. “Why did you do that for?” Blazed asked him. “They already know that we’re coming.” Molder shrugged. “Men always using their brawn before their brains.” Shieldra said with disgust. “Could we once again hold this debate for later?” Star-Girl asked. “She’s right this can wait, but the hostages can’t.” Molder agreed, “Now if I was Dr. Nightmare where would I be hiding?” Looking around the house seeing there was a lot of rooms to go through. “He would be in a place where he would have to be in a room with plenty of room for him to fight and maneuver in.” Blaze suggested. “Then that would most likely be in the main dining hall.” Frezor added. “I agree, let’s head that direction.” Molder nodded and led the team down the hallway. As they ran down the hall they saw some of their old enemies popping out of some of the rooms. “Blaze take care of Ugly Dolly, Frezor Crunch, and Shieldra you take out Big Brain. Star-Girl and I will continue to hunt down Dr. Nightmare.” They nodded and they rushed ahead of them to throw their adversaries into the rooms that they had come out of. Molder and Star-Girl ran into the main dining hall and just as they had figured Dr. Nightmare had been hiding there waiting for their arrival. “Where are your compatriots?” Dr. Nightmare asked them. “They’re taking care of some unfinished business.” Molder answered him as he turned himself into Nightstone. “Now why don’t you just hand over that key card?” “I think not!” He told him as he blasted his Nightmare Blasts at Molder but thanks to the Nightstone it had no affect. “Well you might be protected but what of your girlfriend?” He blasted her, but she just stood there. “What in the world?” “Something you should know about my abilities doc. I can absorb any type of energy, channel it, and shoot it right back at you!” She explained and then blasted him. He fell to the ground but then got back up. “My suit is covered with Nightstone just like Molder, so it would seem we are at a stand still.” Dr. Nightmare told them. “Heads up!” Shieldra called out as she threw Big Brain towards him, but just near him. “You missed me!” “But I won’t!” Frezor protested as he slid a frozen Crunch at him and knocked him to the ground. And before Dr. Nightmare could pick himself up Blaze had thrown Ugly Dolly onto him. “No! Get her off of me!” Dr. Nightmare screamed in terror! “You know you two actually make a good couple.” Molder told him and placed a cocoon of cement over them. “Why separate a good thing?” “You hear that doctor?” Ugly Dolly asked him, “They think we’re a match made in heaven.” “No! Please I beg of you!” Dr. Nightmare pleaded. “You know I’ve heard of having cold feet.” Frezor said as he began to freeze their feet together, “But I’m with Molder on this one.” “Oh don’t they make the cutest couple!” Blaze cooed. “You find this funny!” Dr. Nightmare hollered. “You find pleasure in this?” “Well we’ve always wondered what your biggest nightmare was and now we know.” Shieldra admitted. “Tell you what you give us the key card and we will.” Star-Girl told him. “You’re blackmailing me?” He asked in disbelief. “How is it having a taste of your own medicine doc?” Frezor asked him. “Very well, as long as I you get this sorry excuse of a female off of me!” He nodded to the card sitting on top of the dining room table. Molder grabbed it and placed it in his Bio-Suit now that he was in human form. “Now I’ve done my part, now you do yours.” “Well he did give us the card and we did give him our word.” Blaze said playfully. “Then we shall honor it.” Molder said as and Shieldra separated them with her shielding ability and then he placed a new cocoon over her, but still placed her next to Dr. Nightmare. “Hey what gives?” Dr. Nightmare asked. “You said off of you, nothing about placing her next to you.” Molder told him. “We could always put her back on top of you…” Shieldra began to say. “No, I’m fine with this.” Dr. Nightmare said with a sigh. “Don’t worry doctor soon we’ll together again.” Ugly Dolly said cheerfully. “Oh kill me now.” Dr. Nightmare shook his head.
Chapter 9
Dark-Rider and his team walked into the village and no sooner that they had entered they were greeted with people with pitch forks and torches. “Oh how nice The Gamer has given us a welcoming committee.” Dark-Rider said taking out the Laser Blade out of its sheath. “Now remember they may look like humans but they’re not.” He reminded them. “Wait I have an idea.” Mindra protested, “I have a new improvement in my Bio-Suit that I want to try out.” She got in front of them and shot lasers out of her finger tips and they landed on the heads of the villagers. Once she had hit all of them they began to turn away and run in fright. “What did you do Mindra?” Metallacia asked. “I can answer that.” Sparks volunteered, “The virus that attacked her and her previous Bio-Suit made her see images of fearful things to kill her of fright. But thanks to the anti-virus I had installed into her new Bio-Suit it gives her the advantage of knowing what the weakness of any enemy she comes across.” “But what was up with the light show?” Light-Blader asked. “She can now from long range able to put images into people’s minds. What those people saw was that we were really creatures.” Sparks explained. “Nice, take once was a weakness and make into strength. Good work, the both of you.” Dark-Rider told them. “Now that we know we won’t have to worry about anyone attacking us, let’s head to the castle.” They double-timed towards the castle and once they were there the draw bridge was closed up and the mote was full of alligator and piranhas. Dark-Rider with Laser Blade still in hand, shot a powerful beam of light that destroyed the drawbridge. “Why did you do that for?” Sparks asked. “Metallacia would you make us a new drawbridge?” Dark-Rider asked and she nodded. She formed a bridge before them and they ran across having to blast at the piranhas leaping at them. “Okay most likely The Gamer will be in the throne room.” Dark-Rider began to explain, “So that’s where we’ll be heading.” They continued to run through the castle finding themselves facing knights in black and bone armor. “Light-Blader and I will find Gamer, the rest of you take care of these things.” They nodded and went to battle. Dark-Rider picked up Light-Blader, and flew above the battle that was raging below them, until they came upon the throne room. “That was kind of fun.” Light-Blader admitted, “You think we could do that some other time when we’re not fighting villains?” “Um…let’s keep our minds on the mission.” Dark-Rider told her with a slight stutter. They went into the throne room and there sitting in the throne was The Gamer. “Ah I see that you have left your comrades to die, just to defeat me.” Gamer taunted. “More like divide and conquer. I have nothing but faith and confidence in my team.” Dark-Rider countered. “Now why don’t you give up? There’s no need for this charade to continue.” “You’re right, this charade must end…that you can defeat me!” He said as raised his hand up into the air, but it wasn't to make a declaration but a signal for Mega-Rex to drop down from the ceiling. “You remember my best knight don’t you? Kill them Mega-Rex!” “With pleasure.” Mega-Rex growled, and began to charge the duo. “We don’t have time for this.” Dark-Rider said disbelief, and nodded at Light-Blader and she with blades of light in hand ran towards Mega-Rex and dodged his tail and claw by diving underneath him. She sliced at his legs with her blades that didn’t cut him, but stunned him, and she jumped out of the way for Dark-Rider to do his part. Once Mega-Rex had landed on the ground now that his legs had failed him Dark-Rider took advantage of him trying to recover and jumped into the air and kicked him hard in the head which knocked him out. “So much for your best knight Gamer.” “So maybe he wasn’t the best, but you still have me to contend with.” Gamer said as armor formed around his body. “Have at thee!” With swords in hand. “Seriously?” Light-Blader. “Gamer is one not being taken lightly.” He then looked at his time on his left arm that showed they had 10 minutes remaining. “But we don’t have time to play his games. Time to try out our other new maneuver.” “I’m with ya partner.” She said with her blades ready. “Laser Blade Whirlwind attack!” Dark-Rider threw The Laser Blade at The Gamer and as it did so it created a tornado that surrounded their adversary. He began to spin around until his swords came out of his hands and they could hear him protesting. Once he landed on the ground he began to stand up. “My turn! Explosive Daggers!” She threw eight of them and they placed themselves two on each arm, two on each leg, and two of them in the chest plate. “Wait! Did she say explosive daggers?” Gamer gulped and then there was a big explosion which caused all of his armor to come off. Gamer slammed hard against his throne smoking from the blast. Dark-Rider ran up to him and grabbed the key card off of him. “Let’s move it!” He told Light-Blader and they ran back into the hallway where the others were, and they had just finished off what was left of The Gamers Creations. They all left the castle and rejoined the others at the pathway. Dark-Rider handed the key cards to Sparks and he knew exactly what he had to do. As he left the room which they had been in returned to normal. They grabbed up the villains and brought them out as Sparks was helping everyone out of the room. “Looks like once again The Alpha Squad has proven that we are a force for good and not for evil.” Molder said with a sigh. “Let’s just hope that is what the media shows.” Mindra told him. “What matters is that The Gamer and Dr. Nightmare has been stopped and the hostages set free.” Dark-Rider told them. “Not just that Dark-Rider.” A voice came from behind them, and it was their old friend from the Oregon State Police Captain Carlton. “But Mindra is right; it’s about time that this country if not this town realizes that you guys are a force for good. And I don’t care if it costs me my career, I will make sure that people know the truth.” “Thank you Captain, let’s just hope that what you say will come true.” Dark-Rider said as he shook hands with him. “The Gamer and Dr. Nightmare will be returned to where they were last sentenced since they had broken away from their pardons.” Agent Roman from the FBI broke in. “Dark-Rider long time.” “Good to see you too Agent Roman.” Dark-Rider shook his hand, “But what of us?” “I’m with Captain Carlton, and I’ve pulled some strings in Washington. I was able to buy you some time but as far as the Untied Nations is concerned you’re still a threat.” “That may be, but that’s because Superior is of The Untied Nations.” Dark-Rider said as he then explained to him all that had transpired during their time away from Silverton. “Without proof we won’t be able to do anything about it.” Agent Roman told him. “We’ll get you the proof one way or another.” Dark-Rider assured them. “Dark-Rider would you mind talking to the press with me?” Agent Roman asked him. “Yes, I believe that the public should know the truth.” Dark-Rider said as he approached the cameras. “I won’t answer any questions but I will say this. Hector “The Gamer” Goodfreed and Dr. Harold Croswald aka Dr. Nightmare have been apart of an evil group known as The Society. All the villains that The Alpha Squad and I have fought off and protected this town from has been apart of them. They are led by a man simply known as Superior! He is also apart of The Untied Nations, now which position he is in, we will find out, and bring him to justice. If you anyone of you have any information please let either Captain Carlton of The Oregon State Police or FBI Special Agent Roman. Within the next 24 hours The Alpha Squad will put out a bulletin showing names and faces of all those working for The Society. Together we can and we will defeat The Society once for all and possibly even bring America to the values it once stood for. Life and Liberty to all!” Superior and others with him watched the monitor in disbelief. “Now the whole world knows of our existence.” Cykrill said within the computer. “Then from here on out, all bets are off!” Superior said irritation in his voice, “We will no longer play safely with these children. If they want a war, then we will give them one!”
Chapter 10
Two days later the teens gathered together at the arcade. “I wonder what was Mikes’ surprise he had for us?” John asked. “If I know Mike it’s going to be one we’ll soon regret.” Nicole said sarcastically. They went inside and saw that the place was full of people. “Didn’t we shut this place down?” Dan asked. “Yes we did.” Mike answered him, “But I reopened it.” “And with what money? You’re a high school student like the rest of us.” Dave wondered. “I pulled some funds from the vault that’s in Castle Dark-Rider.” He answered honestly. “You didn’t.” Nicole said with disbelief. “He did, remember it now all belongs to him.” Jacob reminded all of them. “All of video games have been replaced and are free to play as well as the pool tables and such, with an entrance fee of $5.00 to come in. Not only that but I’ve reopened the Laser Tag and Paintball room to be used with a deposit of $10 if there is anything broken. But they are more than happy to bring their own gear if they wish to negate the $10.” “But what about the fear room?” Angie whispered. “That room is still operational but only to us after hours.” Mike said with a wink. “So all of this is the surprise huh? Not bad.” Erica said impressed. “Not just that, but also this.” Mike then handed them T-Shirts with their names on it. “You’ll all now have jobs here as well.” “You’ve got to be kidding.” Clara chuckled. “Only if you want them.” Mike said, “I figured I’d be nice and offer the first few positions to you my friends.” “Thanks Mike! You know maybe it all won’t be all that bad.” Erin said and gave Dan a nudge. “Yeah sure why not!” Dan piped up. “What about the rest of you?” Mike asked, and they all nodded. “Do we get to play in the Laser Tag room?” Ally asked. “But of course.” Mike assured her. “Then I’m in also.” She said putting the shirt on, “Cause tonight, its guys versus girls after we close tonight.” “Oh no I think we made a grave mistake.” Dave said shaking his head. “Are you afraid that you’re going to lose?” Clara asked him. “Of course not us guys are better hunters then you girls any day.” John joined in the conversation. Mike and Erica backed away from the others as they continued their argument, “You think they are ever going to learn?” She asked him. “Maybe after tonight.” He said calmly. “What makes you say that?” “Cause while they’re out hunting each other trying to prove a point I’d figure that you and I will team up against them.” He told her. “You and I do make a good team.” She admitted. “And that’s the point that I want to get across to them.” “Then I’m looking forward to tonight then.” She said with a bright smile. “So am I Erica, so am I.” He agreed as they watched their friends argue.
