The Alpha Force: With gods like these who needs enemies?

A Story by Michael Gill

Prologue

The Alpha Force had defeated an entire town of super-powered beings and escaped the military.  However, the forces of evil are not done with our heroes, not by a long shot.  But one thing that The Alpha Force has going for them is their newest allies.

Chapter 1

“I would like to welcome our newest additions to the team.”  Green Defender announced in the briefing room.  “Justin Stretch aka Long Yard who can stretch his body to unlimited lengths, even without his Bio-Suit, which is gray and blue.  He is bullet proof and takes a punch without flinching.  Next is Angie Silver, aka Metallacia whose are abilities are self-explanatory.  After she is Adam Tones, our African American friend who can produce stunning booming sounds from his mouth, therefore he has chosen the code name of Boom Box.  Following him is Eva Waters aka Aquatrina who can turn her body into the water as well as control the element.  Finally, is Rachel Rose, aka Plantra who can control plants and can cause plants to grow from the ground.”

“Well, I think they will make a great addition,” Sparks said plainly.

“Please allow me to add that I have received the letter of recognition that The Big House is now an official dormitory to a closed group of individuals,” Jacob announced.

“Doesn’t that cost extra?”  Shieldra asked him.

“Yes, let’s not get into that shall we,” Jacob answered.

“Jacob, why don’t you run them through a few simulations.”  Green Defender offered.

“Sure thing. If you will all follow me.”  They all followed him except Shieldra.

“Would you mind telling me what’s bugging you?”  She asked him.

“I don’t feel like talking about it.”  Green Defender answered trying to walk away.

“I know it has to do with something…” She began to say.

“I’ll tell you when…”

“When you feel like it?”  She finished for him.  “What else is new, come on you can tell me anything.”

“I know, but right now, I would just like to have some time to myself.”  And with that, he turned invisible.

“I hate it when he does that!”

On the other side of the world on an uncharted island, lies a castle.  This castle is one of many homes to The Society, the true founders of S.H.I.N.E.  “Our project in Orphan has been eliminated; however, the results of the project are promising.”  Cykrill handed out copies to all the members of The Society.

“The cloning of the power cells and introducing them to normal human DNA has proven that we can begin creating armies of super powered beings to destroy The Alpha Force,” Ruthers explained briefly.

“If I may interject.”  Said an Asian male voice.  “I have an idea.”

“And what is that Dr. Wrong?”  Superior asked.

“Since it was my assistant that came up with the formula to make these people into super-powered beings.  Allow me to take over where he failed.”

“And why should we allow you to take this up?”  Asked one of the men around the table.

“Think about it this way:  If we don’t do something to occupy The Alpha Force, they will soon suspect that we are planning something far eviler.  With me distracting them you can build your army and then attack them at full force…that’s if what I have in mind don’t defeat them.”

“Permission granted.” Superior acknowledged.

“Then I shall take my leave.”

Chapter 2

It was the day after Labor Day and the teens were back in school, and thanks to Jacob’s connections the newest members were able to get transcripts that allowed them to begin school, and after they had registered, they all went to their classes and began their day.  During Lunch, they met under the trees by the baseball field, where they met when it was good weather.  “So how are classes going?”  Dan asked the new recruits.

“So far so good,” Justin answered.

“Yeah, I’m thinking of trying out for the honor roll here,” Eva spoke up.

“We all are.”  Ally told her, “All but Mike that is.”

“True, but there are other things more important than taking extra classes or sports.”  Mike defended himself.

“Such as?”  Angie wondered.

“My sci-fi shows and comics.”

“Why am I not surprised?”  Nicole mentioned sarcastically.

“Justin and I are trying for the football team today; you guys want to come and watch?”  Adam asked.

“Sure, I have to do a story on the team anyways.”  Ally answered, and the others nodded.

“What about you Mike?”  Clara started to ask and noticed that he was gone, “Where did he go?”  They all then noticed that their leader was gone.

“He turned invisible and walked away again!”  Nicole said annoyingly, “You just had to give him an invisibility belt didn’t you John?”

“What do you mean?  He gave me his belt three days ago.”  John defended himself.

“So that means he can turn invisible without one, great, just great.”  She got up and walked off.

After school was out Nicole went back to The Big House while the others stayed behind to watch Justin and Adam try out for the football team.  Behind the bleachers, Dr. Wrong was up to no good, “Just take this and you’ll be strong enough to take down all of those linemen.”  Dr. Wrong told the young player as he kept himself in the shadows to prevent from being seen.

“Thanks, Doc.”

“Remember the first one is free, and if you bring me some of your friends then I’ll give you more for a decent price.”

“Are you sure it’s untraceable?”

“I’m very sure…you will feel the effects within minutes.”  The player injected himself with the syringe and handed it back to Dr. Wrong and left to the field.  “Now let’s see how that progresses.”

At the Big House, Nicole had begun to dig around in Green Defender’s file within I.Q.’s database.  “I.Q. bring me up Green Defenders’ personal files.”

“File found,” I.Q. responded, “Please give the password.”

“Shieldra password is Unicorn Delta 7.”

“Password accepted.”  On the screen, the files from Green Defender’s personal files showed details account of all had happened with him since first becoming The Green Defender.

“You don’t give up do you?”  Mike asked her as he approached her from behind.

“You really haven’t given me much of a choice.”  She answered turning to him.  “Let me guess I won’t find out in any of your files, will I?”

“True, but maybe it’s time I tell you what’s going on, shall we go for a walk?”

Back at the school the rest of the teens were watching Justin and Adam, Ally was interviewing Coach Red about this years’ team.  “What are your chances of making the state playoffs this year?”

“Better than last year, we have a top-notch team, compared to last years.”

“Last year you missed the playoffs by one loss, how will you overcome this?”

“First, we have some new fresh blood, and we have a lot of returning players from last year’s team.  Plus, we are going against rivals that are still having issues of improving, and other teams around the surrounding areas are facing the same issues.”

“Okay if I can ask the players some questions?”

“Sure, after we run through some scrimmages.  But be sure to interview the seniors this is their year you know.”

During the scrimmages, the kid who took the syringe from Dr. Wrong, Zak Planter was a linebacker, and with each play, he seemed to be getting stronger and faster.  Across the field the others watched from the bleachers, John was the first to notice, “Is it just me or is that middle linebacker getting faster and stronger with each play?”

“Of course, he’s a jock,” Clara answered.

“No seriously watch him.”  On the next play they watched, and he went through the line as if they were paper and he was a pair of scissors.

“You know I think John is right, there is no way someone can continue doing something like that play after play.”  Angie brought up.

“Should we do something?”  Eve asked.

“Not yet…let’s wait and see if he wears down.”  Rachel answered.

“Agreed, the last thing we need is to cause some undue attention towards us if there is no emergency,” Dan told them.

As they walked Mike told Nicole what was going on with him, “At first like I told your uncle I would sleep for about six or seven hours, then it was four hours of sleep, and now I’m sleeping one hour a day.”

“What are you doing when you’re awake then?”  She asked worried about him.

“At first I was just lying there waiting for the alarm clock to go off.  Then over the past week, I’ve been sneaking out as The Green Defender.”

“Doing what?”

“Fighting crime.”

“But that’s not what’s really bugging you is it?”

"No, I think my dad is catching on.”

“You mentioned that before the Orphan case.”  She brought up.

“Yes, but this last time, he caught me, and I told him that I was sleep walking.”

“Do you think he bought it?”

“I hope so, otherwise I’ll have to get a doctors’ note stating that.”

“Sparks to Green Defender and Shieldra.”  Spark’s voice came through their communicators.

“We’re here go ahead,” Mike answered.

“You guys might want to get back here, as your alter egos.”

“What’s going on?”  Nicole asked.

“One of the players seems to be exhibiting superhuman powers.”  Sparks briefly explained. “He’s now throwing the other players like rag dolls!”

“Okay, we’ll be right there,” Mike assured him and deactivated the communicator.

“Looks like it's action time,” Shieldra said.

“Bio Suits activate!”  Mike said, and they activated their Changers following the password and they were Green Defender and Shieldra.  “Let’s fly!”  He told her as he picked her up and took to the sky.

Back at the school, the other teens were helping everyone to get off the field without exposing themselves as The Alpha Force.  “Come on everyone, this way!”  Dan hollered motioning people to get off the field.

“We’ve got to do something!”  Clara exclaimed.

“Not till the two love birds get here,” Dave told her.

“Speaking of which here they are!”  John pointed to the sky, and they all looked above them to see a blur of green.

“You protect the players until the others can arrive.”  Green Defender instructed.  “While I take care of the hostile.”

“No problem, but first how about a shield bomb?”  She suggested and with that said Green Defender dropped her right below the player they knew as Bruce Timmons.  She put up the strongest shield that she could muster and landed right on top of him!  “Now to help the players.”  She got in the middle of the football team and put a shield around them.  “Everyone follows me!”

“But what about Timmons?”  Asked Coach Red.  “He’s gone psycho!”

“Don’t worry about him; if my shield bomb didn’t stop him, I’m sure Green Defender can.”  But unknown to her and the players around her, that the other threat was going to emerge.

Green Defender observed from above that shield bomb had little or no effect on Timmons.  “Well, that didn’t work; guess it’s time for me to try out my Drill Bit maneuver.  Using his speed, spinning at 100 mph he flew down and pounded right into Timmons and went down a good 35 feet into the ground!  Green Defender flew up and looked down the hole, “That worked better than I thought."  No sooner did he say that a large hand wrapped around his throat!  “Okay…maybe not…” He choked.

“Now little man, you are going to eat dirt!”  Timmons said in a dark tone as he rose out of the ground, all those around could see that Timmons had grown up to eight feet tall!

“You think…we can…talk this out?”  Green Defender asked gasping for air.

“No!”  Timmons answered violently and threw Green Defender into the scoreboard.

“Green Defender!”  Shieldra yelled in worry.

“You shouldn’t worry about him.”  A voice came from behind her, “You got other problems to worry about.”  And when Zak Planter said that he shot out a lightning bolt at her and she hit the ground and the shield was down.  The players and the coaches began to run away from the second augmented player.

“This isn’t good.”  Dan said as he and the others were heading out of the bleachers, “Both Green Defender and Shieldra are down.”

“Now we have no choice to but to get involved.”  Ally brought up.

“Let’s get somewhere so we can activate our bio-suits.”  Dave agreed, and they went below the bleachers. “Bio Suits activate!” And within seconds they were The Alpha Force.

“Sparks you and the new recruits take out Plants…the rest of us will handle Timmons.”  Molder ordered assuming his role as the next in command, and they parted.  The Alpha Force approached Timmons with caution.  “Okay, we don’t want to hurt you.”  Molder started diplomatically.

“You?  Hurt me?”  Timmons asked in disbelief and began to laugh, “I don’t think so.”  He began to make his attack.

“What now Molder?”  Frezor asked.

“Time for this guy to pick on someone his own size.”  Molder answered, and with all he could muster he began to grow to the same size as Timmons and turned his body into Night Stone.

“I didn’t know he could do that,” Mindra said in shock.

“Neither did I!”  Frezor and the others said at the same time.

“I’ll turn you into rubble!”  Threatened Timmons.

“Sorry, but my name's not Barney.”  Molder countered and began punching his adversary.

“Time for a little teamwork.”  Frezor offered up, as he pointed his hands towards the left foot of Timmons and shot out a freeze beam, and froze the leg in place; however, the strength of Timmons broke it.

“Nice try ice cube,” Blaze complemented, “now it’s time to see how he likes a hot foot.”  She shot out a stream of fire towards Timmons other foot, which caused him to stumble back enough for Molder give a knockout punch.

“Nice work…” Molder congratulated the others as he returned to his normal size.  “Mindra see what info you can drain off from him.”

“On it.”  Mindra walked up to the fallen jock and placed her hands over his giant head and began to abstract information from him.

Sparks and his team began their attack on Plants minus Boom Box and Long Yard.  Plants shot out lightning bolts at them, but Sparks would block each one by absorbing them.  Plantra caused the grass to grow at an excessive rate to entangle him, however, he would break free.  Metallacia attacked him in her metallic form landing punches left and right, but it did not faze him.  Plants punched her back and she went down.

“What do we do?”  Aquatrina asked.

“I got an idea,” Sparks answered.  “Splash him with water.”

“Okay.”  Aquatrina agreed questionably, she turned herself into water and she splashed their opponent with gallons of water.

“Water?”  You attack me with water?”

“No, that was only to distract you…now Power Surge!”  Sparks called out as he shot out all the electricity that he could gather within him, and throughout the area around him.  At first, Plants was able to absorb it, until he couldn't take any more, and then there was a loud boom!  And Plants fell to the ground.

“How’d you know that would stop him?”  Metallacia asked.

“I figured unlike me, he could only absorb so much,” Sparks explained briefly.

“How much can you absorb?”  Plantra asked.

“Unlimited.  Now if you excuse me, I’m going to collect a couple of DNA samples.”

Green Defender got out of what was remaining of the scoreboard and rushed towards Shieldra.  “Hey, you ok?”

“Yeah, good thing my bio-suit absorbed most of the electrical attack.  How about you?”

“I think I may have some bruises.”

“Looks like the others took care of the problem.”  She observed.

“Yeah, let’s check and see the damage to the field.”

“Already taken care of.”  Frezor walked up to them.  “Molder is filling in the holes which Plantra causes the grass to grow in those spots.”

“Metallacia has encased both of them in Titanium Cages.”  Molder reported.

“Nice work team. At least there is no sign of damage, except for the scoreboard.  I’ll see if Jacob can donate money towards a new one.”  Green Defender said and then could hear sirens from afar.  “That’s our favorite tune, let’s move people.”  They left to the sky and retreated to The Big House.

Chapter 3

The Alpha Force returned to The Big House, and Sparks began working on the DNA samples that he had gathered while the others went through the med-lab to check up on their injuries or lack thereof.  Most of them were good to go, except for Green Defender and Shieldra.  “Green Defender, you have some minor bruising throughout your body, best to stay away from the strenuous activity,” Frezor warned him since he was the team’s Head Medical officer.

“No worries,” he shrugged, “Within 12 hours I’ll be back in tip top shape.”  Green Defender assured him.

“Shieldra, you got some electrical burns.”  He told her as he handed her some ointment, “That should help it heal quickly.”

“Thanks, Frezor.”

A couple of hours later they all met in the meeting room to discuss the situation at hand, “Definitely has S.H.I.N.E.’s fingerprints all over it.”  Green Defender stated.

“I agree, but the question is, which one of their agents is it?”  Boom Box asked.

“According to what I was able to gather from both Timmons and Plants memories, they met up with a man that called himself, Dr. Wrong,” Mindra answered. And, according to their memories, one was given an inhaler, and the other was given a syringe.” Mindra finished.

“Which brings up the DNA analysis.” Sparks came into the room, “The samples I took are similar to the ones I took from the people in Orphan.”

“That means that Orphan was a test run.”  Shieldra deduced.

“It would seem so.  Only there are certain similarities…that of some of our abilities.”  Sparks continued.

“Which means when Cyber-Queen captured us last year, she must’ve taken DNA samples of each of us?”  Blaze said ominously.

“So now that means by now, they could’ve replicated enough to amass a giant army.”  Molder said scarcely.

“True; however as mentioned Orphan was a test run, so that means since we took that out, those people were either relocated or killed,” Frezor said with a bit of fear.

“We need to keep our eyes and ears open.”  Green Defender brought everyone back to focus.

“What happened to the two that attacked the school today?”  Long Yard asked.

“They were taken to a facility operated by S.H.I.N.E,” Jacob answered, and an eerie feeling came into the room.

“Something tells me that we need to keep a close eye on that facility.”  Green Defender said slowly.

“We can do it!”  Boom Box spoke up, “We don’t have families to go to, and we’ll work in shifts.”

“Good idea, our families have been complaining about all the overtime we've been putting in as of late.”  Molder agreed.

“Very well, your new recruits shall watch over the facility.”  Jacob finalized the action.

“Good, now the rest of us will now go home.”  Green Defender rose out of his seat, and they all departed for home.

Dr. Wrong was sitting at his desk when a pop-up communication came on his computers’ monitor, “Report Dr. Wrong.”  Superior demanded.

“I’ve looked over the results of the two specimens, and I can say for a fact that they’re altered change is permanent.”

“Excellent!  And what of them?”

“The Alpha Force and their new allies defeated them, and they are now being held at an S.H.I.N.E. facility.”

“They were defeated?”  Superior asked in anger, “You promised these warriors to be unstoppable and destroy The Alpha Force!”

“Yes, but two of them did put up a good fight.  If I’m able to find more of their personality types than I will be able to amass good size team of our own super powered beings.”

“The sooner the better doctor,” Superior said, and the screen went blank.

Chapter 4

The following day, Dr. Wrong under the name of Dr. Wong stepped into the classroom with students seeing that they had a substitute teacher, “Good morning ladies and gentlemen my name is Dr. Wong, and I shall be your substitute teacher for the next couple of weeks.”  And as he made his announcement, he observed how they reacted, some grinned, others groaned.

“Where’s Dr. Crowley?”  Asked Dave.

“He had a family emergency.”  Dr. Wong answered.  “Now turn your anatomy books page 127.”

“Are you also in other classes?”  Asked Jennie Stone.

“Yes, I am substituting in all of Dr. Crowley’s classes.”  As the class proceeded, Dr. Wrong observed the behaviors of the students and listened in on conversations during the break in between classes.

One conversation included a breakup between a couple; “But why are you breaking up with me?”  Jennie Stone asked her now ex-boyfriend.

“Because of Jennie, just like your last name, your heart is that of stone!”  Abe Bradley told her bluntly and left.

Another predicament was that of Sonya Green who had transferred to the Science Block from the Music Block for the Choir Director had told her she had a singing voice of a cackling witch.  During Earth Science and Astronomy classes he noticed two other girls being picked on by their classmates for being the brainiacs one was Patricia White, and the other was Torrie Brown.  After the Science Block was over the AM period of the day, Dr. Wrong had asked them to stick around after class for a brief minute.  “How would you young ladies like to get back at those who tormented you?”

“How’s that Doc?”  Jennie asked.

“I have here for each of you an inhaler which will give you powers beyond your imagination.”

“You mean like Timmons and Plants?”  Asked Torrie.

“Yes, just like them.  And all I ask is that tonight you bust those two out of a facility of which they are being held in.”

“Anything else?”  Asked Sonya.

“Yes, in each of your lockers is a uniform which will disguise who you really are.  Plus, a key to a gray van parked three blocks from here.  In the glove compartment will be the address of the facility and the address of where to meet me at once you have retrieved them.”

“Sounds like fun to me,” Patricia said with an evil glee.

“Now go, I’ll see you later tonight.”

At the baseball field the teens were having lunch and were discussing their day so far, and The Beta Squad reported to the others of last nights’ surveillance, “Not a peep man.”  Adam finished up.

“Doesn't mean they won’t try tonight.”  Mike reminded.

“Did you guys know about the new sub?”  Dave asked the others.

“Oh great, I have the second block.”  Complained Ally.

“Yeah well, he’s supposed to be the sub for the next couple of weeks,” Clara added.

“That and he asked four girls to stay behind after class…all four of them in bad emotional states of mind.”  Eva reported.

“Hmm.”  Mike murmured softly in a thinking tone.

“I don’t like it when he uses that tone,” Dan mentioned.

“What’s the subs’ name?”  Nicole asked Dave.

“Dr. Wong.”

“I hate coincidences,” Mike said plainly.

“Is he always this paranoid?”  Justin asked curiously.

“Not paranoid, cautious.”  John answered, “You’re just gonna have to learn how to speak Mikey.”

“It’s best we all watch over that place as soon as we’re out of school for the day,” Mike told them all.

“We’ll be there after football practice,” Adam informed them, and Mike nodded.

During the afternoon block of the day, Dr. Wong found others to join his crew.  One was Simon Box, who was blind but very intelligent.  Another was a Goth kid by the name of Benjamin Gray; he gave them both an inhaler to take.  After school was out, he found two young men that were kicked off the football, wrestling, and swimming teams for the use of steroids, Charlie Fin, and Daryl Darken, Fred Varns.  He also found another athlete that was let go of the track team for he had blown out his knee, his name was Larry Freely.

Later that night the four girls who now called themselves, Siren, Medusa, Gaea, and Phoebe approached the facility without fear, and confident of how to use their newfound powers.  Gaea put her hand on the ground and caused an earthquake to occur until the power to the facility had shut down. “Phase 1 complete girls.”  She announced.

“Good,” Medusa nodded, “Let’s take out the guards.”  The walked up to the front of the building and the guards pointed their weapons at them.

“Halt ladies!”  Ordered one of the guards.

“Sorry boys, but we don’t have time for a date,” Siren responded, she then opened her mouth and a sonic scream, which caused the guards to drop their weapons and they grabbed their ears tightly to block out the sound, but it was so used as they fell to their knees and passed out.

“Nice job Siren.”  Gaea complemented.

“I’ll handle the next set,” Phoebe spoke up as they went in. Inside they were met by a few more guards and Phoebe held out her hand and they began to struggle to move and then they collapsed to the ground until they were all dead…crushed to death.

“What powers do you have?”  Asked Medusa.

“Gravity.”

“Now that’s what I call G-Force Trauma!”  Gaea commented and they all laughed until they saw more guards coming their way.

“Let me handle these boys.” Medusa said with an evil smile as she walked up to them, “Hello there, big boys.”

“Stop or we’ll open fire!” One of the guards warned her.

“Go ahead.”  She taunted them as she turned herself into stone.  They fired at her, but the bullets bounced off her.  She then attacked them and each of them that was touched by her hands was immediately turned to stone.

They approached the cells that of which Plants and Timmons were being held in, “Time to leave boys.”  Gaea told them as she turned off the shields.

“Thanks, ladies.”  Timmons complemented.

“you're welcome handsome, now let us blow this joint,” Medusa said, and they left.

Once they were out of the facility, they were confronted by both The Alpha Force.  “Those are the guys that beat us the last time!”  Timmons pointed out.

“But this time we’re not alone.”  Plants agreed.

“That’s as far as you’ll go!”  Green Defender told them.

“You think you’ll stop us this time?”  Asked Timmons.

“We don’t have time for this!”  Siren told them, she began to scream towards their opponents, and all but Boom Box went down.

“Sorry, but I’m immune.”  He told her with a smirk.

“Not for me, though,” Phoebe told him, and she used her power against him, taking him down to the ground.

“How about that, it took two of us to defeat them!”  Siren screeched with glee.

“But they’re not dead!”  Plants said in anger.

“Not right now…but soon very soon.”  Gaea assured them as they left.

Five minutes later both teams started to arouse.  “Is everyone all right?”  Green Defender asked.

“Yeah, but I feel like the whole football team ran me over.” Boom Box complained.

“We best get out of here before the authorities arrive.”  Shieldra told them, “They’ll be here within a matter of moments.”  So, they all headed out back to the Battle Van while those who could fly took to the sky.

“Well done my Children.”  Dr. Wrong complimented them, as they walked in.

“Yeah, we took out defeated The Alpha Force, they’re not dead, but I’m sure they wish they were,” Gaea reported.

“Really, all of you?”

“No, just Siren and I,” Phoebe answered.

“With that said and with all those whom I’ve recruited to join us you all shall be unstoppable.”  Dr. Wrong said with brilliance.  He then had the two guys to get into their new uniforms.  Once that was done, he had them all lineup and activated the communication computer of his lab.

“Superior here, report Dr. Wrong.”

“I wish to introduce you to my team which I call Mythos.”

“What can they do?”

“The Leader Zeus, he has superhuman strength and shoots lightning bolts.  Siren, whose sonic scream can make an opponent fall to their knees in seconds, and her hands can turn into talons that can shred through anything.  Medusa, who can change her body into stone, and can turn her opponents into stone with just a touch.  Poseidon who can swim 100 mph in the water, and has superhuman strength, when in or around the water.  Ares who has superhuman strength as well as near invulnerability.  Gaea who can control any earthly ground.  Helios, who can turn his body into pure light, shoots out beams of light.  Phoebe that can control gravity. Hades, who can control fire and master of the sickle.  Teiresias though blind can predict his opponents’ intentions.  Giant who can cause himself to grow up to 20 feet tall.  And Finally, Hermes who has superhuman speed up to 300 mph.”

“Excellent!  The Alpha Force and their allies will finally be defeated.”  Superior said with an evil tone to his voice, “Make sure that they all are eliminated.  Superior out.”

Chapter 5

The Alpha Force returned to The Big House at 11 pm.  All of them feeling the effects of their first defeat against their new foes.  “You all seem to be in terrible shape,” Jacob observed.

“You’re telling us.  Whoever they are, they’re more powerful than us.”  Molder told him.

“It would appear so.  But remember power isn’t the only way to win a battle.”  Jacob gave them a bit of wisdom.

“We weren't ready.”  Green Defender stated as he took off his mask, “We thought we had the element of surprise; however, in a way, they appeared to be expecting us.”

“How’d you figure?”  Challenged Boom Box, “It only took two of them to take us down!”

“Back off Boom Box!”  Molder warned.

“Or what?  You’ll turn me into a statue?”

“That’s enough both of you!”  Green Defender ordered.  “There is no reason for us fight among each other, save it for the enemy!”

“That and we need to get home before our Copiers disintegrate.”  Sparks brought up.  They all nodded and left for the night.

Mike got home a little bit before midnight, and snuck into the bedroom through his window, and no sooner than he did the light came on…and there stood his Dad and Stepmom with their arms crossed in disappointment.  “Hi, guys…I was just closing the window, it was getting cold in here.”

“Uh huh.  And what is that?”  His dad pointed to the figure under the blankets that were a copy of Mike that was turning into particles.

“That was a Copier it was an invention of my friend John…he created it.  He wanted me to try it out for him.”

“The truth Michael…NOW!!”  His Dad ordered, “You've been sneaking out with Nicole, haven’t you?”

“Or are you into gangs?”  Patty asked.

“Yes and no.”

“Which is it?”  His Dad asked getting irritated.

“Yes, on Nicole, no on gangs.  But it’s not what you think.”  Mike started to explain.

“Then what is it?”  Patty asked, also getting a bit irritated.

“It’s just not Nicole I’m sneaking off with, but others as well.”  Mike started to explain again, knowing that he had to admit defeat.  “It’s time you both know the truth about me.”

“And what’s that?”  His dad asked not wanting to waste any more time.

“I’m not just your son…I’m also The Green Defender of The Alpha Force.”

“Okay, no more comics for you!  Tomorrow morning you are to throw them all out of this house!”  His dad told him as he and Patty began to turn around.

“You want proof?  I will show you proof!  Bio-Suit Activate!”  And before their very eyes, he turned into The Green Defender!  “Now you know I’m telling you the truth.”

“How is this possible?”  His dad asked slowly.

“Sit down and I’ll tell you.”  He assured them as he turned off the changer, and they sat down, while he told them everything.

The next day, early in the morning, Mike had contacted each of the teens and asked them to bring their parents to The Big House, for it was now time for them to know the truth.  They all met for breakfast and each of them told their parents and showed them of what they could do and explained to them that God had chosen them to protect this world.

Chapter 6

That very same morning after breakfast the teens headed to school, relieved their parents finally knew the truth of who they were and what they do.  Jacob assured the teens though that their parents were not going to be put in the Memory Jar for them to remember their past’s beings that they needed time to digest all that had gone on.  As they approached the school, they could see that the police and ambulance were there, “Something’s going down.”  Adam observed.

“Everyone keep your eyes and ears open,” Mike instructed as they parked.  They sat there for a moment before leaving the vehicle, “Nicole and I will find out what’s going on, the rest of you head to your lockers, and we’ll meet up in ten minutes.”  They departed, and the duo swam through the sea of people, and saw the EMT’s wheeling a gurney with a body bag, “What’s going on Drew?”  Mike asked his fellow band member.

“Mr. Woods was killed according to what I’ve heard, he was clawed to death by an animal, yet they say they have no idea how a wild animal could enter the music room and not leave any other traces of its presence being there outside of the body.”

“Thanks man, looks like we won’t have band or choir for a while huh?”

“Yeah, they’re closing the whole Music Block until they the investigation is over.”

“Thanks for the update man,” Mike told him as he and Nicole walked towards where the others were.  When they met up with them, they informed them of what happened to Mr. Woods, and the others informed them of other things that had happened.

“Jennie’s ex-boyfriend was found turned to stone,” Dan told them.

“Serious?”  Nicole as shrieked as softly as she could.

“That and other students have been attacked throughout the morning…”  Rachel started to report but was interrupted by their communicators.  They walked into the schools’ newspaper room and closed the door.

“Go ahead Dark-Rider,” Mike responded.

“Sensors have picked up a force field that just covered itself over the school blocking the police from getting in, as well as you and the other students from getting out.”  Just then they could hear a bunch of noise coming from the hallways, and Dave looked out the window, and then suddenly ducked and the others followed cue, and he motioned to activate their invisibility belts, and they did so.  No sooner than they did, Zeus and Ares came into the room and saw that it was empty and left.

“That was a close one,” Mike said turning himself visible.  “But right now, we got a situation on our hands.”  Mike reminded them, “Dark-Rider it seems that they are rounding up all the students for some reason.”

“Stay out of sight as long as you can,” Dark-Rider warned them.

“We’ll do our best, Green Defender out.”

“So, what now, we just can’t sit here while they’re taking over the school!”  Adam pointed out.

“I agree with Boom Box,” Plantra spoke up.

“Look, we have the most experience when going against guys like this,” Blaze told them.

“This is no place for an argument.”  Green Defender chimed in, and they all looked at him, “Knowing these villains, they will make a challenge of some kind and that’s when we respond, no sooner than that understood?”

“You’re the boss.”  Boom Box said reluctantly.

About an hour later, after having to turn invisible a couple of more times, Dr. Wrong’s voice came over the intercom, “Attention Alpha Force, this is Dr. Wrong.  I am communicating to you on all frequencies, so that means I’ve taken over the police broadband and televisions as well as any other forms of communications.  Please respond.”

“This is The Green Defender, what is that you want Dr. Wrong?”  He responded.

“As by now, you know that I and my Mythos have taken over the school and have placed a force field around the campus.”

“We are aware.”

“And no doubt that you are somewhere within the school itself.  However, if you are not here’s what I want you to do, you are to meet with us at the football field within the next 30 minutes, and if you are outside of the field, then I will open it up long enough to enter then close it again.”

“Very well, we shall be there, but I’m not into playing games Doctor.”  Green Defender warned him.

“Oh, but games are just what I had in mind, you see I open a challenge to you, my Mythos VS. You.  Each of you will compete with one of my gladiators and the winner of that game will score a point for their team.  Once the games are over, then the winner shall surrender to the loser, and if you win, not only will we surrender, but we will release the hostages.”

“You’re on Doc; we’ll be there at the time that you expect us.”

“Very good, then I’ll be waiting.” With that said, the transmission ended.

“All right team, we have best bring our A game, Bio-Suits activate!”

Chapter 7

The heroes approached the football field, which was surrounded by the track.  Up in the stands were the students and faculty, Dr. Wrong approached them and welcomed them, “I hope you don’t mind us having a captive audience.”

“I don’t see the humor in holding others against their will Doc!”  Green Defender told him bluntly.

“My, my, there is no need for you to be angry, they have been treated well.  Now shall we begin?”  Dr. Wrong pointed to them where they would be placed on the sidelines while the games went on.  “I shall be the team captain of my team and will pick who will compete at each event.  And since you are the leader Green Defender, you shall be the captain for your team.  Plus, we are the only two outside of the competitors that go beyond the sidelines.  The first game shall be running my team chooses Hermes.”

“And we choose Sparks.”  Green Defender told him, and the two speedsters met on the track.

“There are sensors that will pick up each time you go by it.  Whoever has the most laps within one minute will be declared the winner.”  Dr. Wrong explained.  “Take your places.”  He announced, “Ready?  Get set…. GO!”  And they were off, and people, as well as the Alpha Force, was rooting for Sparks to win.

Didn’t know I was so loved. Sparks thought to himself.  Okay, I’m going to have to transfer all my electrical power to amp up my speed.  During the time he had thought that he had already gone at least 35 laps.  And when the minute was over, a loud buzzer when off, and everyone looked at the results on the new scoreboard and it showed Hermes had gone only 2500 laps.  Sparks, however, had gone 5,000 laps!

“The winner of this event is Sparks!”  Dr. Wrong announced a bit glum.  “Now for the second event, Flexibility, my team chooses The Giant!”  He pointed to the 5’1” stocky kid.

“And we choose Long Yard.”  Green Defender informed.

“Me against that guy…piece of cake.”  Long Yard said with pride, as he was about to leave the sideline.

“Careful Long Yard; looks can be deceiving,” Shieldra warned him.

They went up first and sat in the middle of the field, and he began to grow, the distance of the field.  Then he clasped his fingers over his toes.  Dr. Wrong looked over at Green Defender and Long Yard who said, “Yeah I got this…”  he gulped as he approached the field and sat not too far from The Giant.  He then began to stretch his body; however, he had not the experience of his abilities to be able to expand his body to the length of the field and was proved to himself and everyone watching that he had lost this bout.  As he approached the sidelines he said, “Sorry guys.”  And dropped to the ground from exhaustion.

Frezor went up to him and said, “He’ll be fine, just overexerted himself.”

“Next will be Hand-To-Hand Combat.  We choose Teiresias.”  Dr. Wrong announced.

“We choose Mindra.”  Green Defender said.

“Me against a blind guy?”  Mindra asked in disbelief.

“According to Greek Mythology, the person he was named after was struck blind however for compensation was given the gift of prophecy,” Dark-Rider spoke through her communicator as she approached the field to face off against her chosen opponent.

“The first one to strike their opponent 5 times will be declared the winner.”  Dr. Wrong informed the combatants. The two of them bowed and placed themselves in fighting stances, and within the first minute, neither of them moved.

“This is intense!”  Plantra breathed.

On the field Mindra looked hard at her opponent, Why doesn’t he move?  She asked herself silently, I’m very disciplined, but only to a certain degree.  But if Dark-Rider is right about his ability then he is waiting for me to make the first move…

Across from her Teiresias waited as patiently as he could as well, Why?  Why doesn’t she attack?  Her mind is disciplined, but to what extent?

Five minutes had passed and still, no one made a move, I’ve studied him long enough… I’m going to make the first move, and hope that he doesn’t counter.  She went for a punch with her left hand but pulled it back, to strike with her right, but he grabbed both of them and head-butted her, and as he did so, let go of her arms and punched with his right hand, and went for a kick with his left, but she blocked it, with her left hand, and punched with her right and then a couple of jabs, and they each hit each other one more time, then jumped back.  One more hit, I’m going for it!  She said to herself as she lunged, and he did the same, they both did a flying kick to each other’s’ face!

“Tie!”  Dr. Wrong called out.

“Good job Mindra.”  Each of her teammates told her.

“Thanks, guys.”  She said with a bit of humility.

“Next is Archery, we choose Hades.”

“I’ll go.”  Frezor volunteered.

“Go for it.”  Green Defender told him.

The two met in the middle of the field. Hades had a demonic looking bow and a set of arrows that matched.  “Where’s your bow and arrows frosty?”  Hades asked him in a dark voice.

“Right here,” Frezor answered, and he created a bow and a set of arrows out of ice.

“The Bulls Eye is worth 500, the ring around it is worth 250, and the ring around it is worth 150, beyond that is out of bounds.”  Dr. Wrong informed the archers.  “First one to reach 1,000 points or better will win.  Also, you must both shoot at your targets at the same time for fairness.”  They nodded, “Good, now ready? The aim, fire!”  The first sets of arrows were shot and each of them hit a bull’s eye!  “Ready? Aim, fire!”  The second set went, but this time Hades scored 250, and Frezor went out of bounds.  Moans of disappointment came from the crowd.  “Ready?  Aim, fire!”  The third set shot out, and this time, Frezor scored 250 and Hades, scored 100.  “Ready?  Aim…Fire!”  The final set was shot out and Frezor scored another bull’s eye, and Hades went out of bounds! The crowd cheered for The Alpha Force was now in the lead.

“We shall now move to the swimming pool, along with our participants, while we are gone, you there will be a test between Phoebe and the one called Shieldra.  And since I know that you have her as your second in command, you might want someone else to call the winner if you win, I shall choose Zeus to be my caller, and Poseidon shall participate in the swimming contest.”  Dr. Wrong explained to Green Defender.

“For the caller, it will be Molder, and for the swimming pool, it will be Aquatrina.”  Green Defender told him and then asked for a moment to speak to Shieldra.

Chapter 8

Green Defender walked up to Shieldra who was getting ready for her resistance match up against Phoebe, “I know you can beat her.”

“Yes, I know too.”  She assured him.

“Remember to use your mind, not just your abilities.”

“I know…”  She then started to say something and then stopped.

“What is it?”  He asked her.

“Nothing, I’ll tell you when we win this thing.”

“Okay.”  He agreed, and they hugged and parted ways for the time being.

Shieldra met Phoebe in the middle of the field and stared at each other.  “Ready to get hard pressed into the ground?”  Phoebe asked her.

“Funny, I was just about to ask you the same thing,” Shieldra told her.

They put up their hands and slammed their invisible shields at one another.  They pushed at one another with all their might, This girl is more powerful than I thought!  Shieldra thought to herself, I’m using every ounce of force against her, and I’ve yet to budge her an inch…gonna have to…pace myself…can’t let the strain get too much.

This girl is in for a surprise, I’m not using all my power.  Phoebe told herself, Now is the time, when she thinks that she is safe.  Phoebe then started put on the pressure, pushing Shieldra down to one knee.  “Why don’t you give up, you know you can’t beat me.”

“Not on my worse day and it doesn’t matter if you were playing with me or not, I still have a lot of juice in me!”  Shieldra countered.

“But all you have to do is go down to one more knee and it will all be over.  Then maybe that boyfriend of yours in the green will hear of what a true woman is, and I’ll take him as my play thing!”

“Okay…You can taunt me all you want, but threatening to take my boyfriend, that’s a big mistake!”  She summoned all the strength that was within her, from her mind, soul, her heart and began to push back!  She got back to being on both feet, she then kept pushing and pushing until she saw that Phoebe had dropped to one knee, then two, and then finally collapsed.

“Winner Shieldra!”

At the swimming pool, Poseidon and Aquatrina had just got into the pool when they heard who won.  But the announcement did not let Dr. Wrong deter from his instructions of the event at hand, “Just like the track event, there is a sensor for you to touch each time you complete a lap.  The team with the most laps in one minute will be the winner.  Get set…GO!” And they were off, and no one could see how fast they were going for they were one with the water.  When the minute was over, they looked at the board and it showed they had tied.

The next event that happened after they had returned from the swimming pool was who would make a tree could grow the fastest involving Gaea and Plantra who tied.  After that event there was a tree chopping contest between Ares and Molder, the goal was whoever chopped their teams’ tree the fastest won.  With three precise chops, Ares won using a very sharp battle ax that was given to him, and Molder was using a stone ax and was only one my chop away from bringing it down when Ares had won!

Chapter 9

The next event was a sound test, however since Siren and Boom Box could cancel each other out and it was considered a tie.  Medusa and Metallacia were up next.  The goal of the event was to touch the other person and have the other person turned into their opponent’s element.  Medusa and Metallacia met in the middle of the field and they each turned into their element of choice, with Medusa it was stone, and for Metallacia it was Titanium.  They did their best to avoid contact with the other but struck out when they felt they had the chance to win.  After nearly five minutes of avoiding one another they went for at the same time, however, thanks to Medusa's’ Martial Arts training she was able to grab a hold of her opponent’s arm and turned Metallacia into stone long enough to be declared the winner and then returned to normal.

Next to last of the events was Helios and Blaze, they were each to set the fallen trees that were still on the field on fire, and the one who could burn theirs up the fastest was the winner.  The shot-out beams of fire at the point of enough to heat to cause an out-of-control forest fire, however, it was Helios who became the victor…. now it was tied…only two combatants remained.

“This is last battle Green Defender are you ready?”  Dr. Wrong asked him.

“As ready as your guy, what’s the event?”

“Sword fighting.  The one who makes his opponent yield will be both the winner of the event and his team the winner of the games.”

“Then allow me to call for my sword.”  Green Defender told him.

“Very well but make it quick.”

“IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST…LASER BLADE HEED MY CALL!”  Green Defender called out in a voice of authority that he had in Christ.  Within seconds the sword known as The Laser Blade was within his hand.  “Now I’m ready.”  He and Zeus met up in the middle of the field. Zeus carried a Long Sword with very sharp edges.

“You best pray to your God little man, for he will soon be greeting you…unless you shall yield yourself before me.”  Zeus taunted him.

“You come with me with your sword and loud boasts, but I come in the name of the God of heaven and earth.”  Green Defender quoted.

Zeus began his attack and swung the sword towards his opponent and Green Defender blocked it, and they continued like this for what seemed like an eternity…but only minutes had flown by. Green Defender knew that he had to win, a lot of people were counting on him to, he knew if he lost, his team lost, then even though the students and faculty would be released more than likely, but he and his friends would be lab rats once again and he was not about to let that happen.

Zeus pulled out every stop he could but could not break down Green Defender’s defensive moves.  Why doesn’t he attack me?  Is he a coward?  Zeus asked himself.  But as he thought that he realized that he was starting to wear down, and his hands were starting to get shaky.  “I’ll end this now!” Zeus declared out loud, and went to decapitate his green opponent, but Green Defender ducked, and once the sword had gone through its swipe that would have chopped his head off, he jumped up and with the hilt of the Laser Blade he hit Zeus with all his might on top of his head and knocked him out, and the Greek wanna-be god fell to the ground.

“The winners…The Alpha Force.”  Dr. Wrong announced in defeat.  There was a huge applause from the crowd both within the bleachers but also the people outside of the force field.

“You will now honor your part of the deal Dr. Wrong.”  Green Defender began to warn him, “Otherwise we will have no problem taking on your whole team.”

“Is that so?”  Zeus said as he got up, and his allies stood right behind him. “Then let’s see who is the mightiest out of all of us.”

“Might doesn’t make right Zeus, however, when it comes brains, we got the biggest of them…right, Sparks?”  Green Defender turned to his speedy friend.

“Yep.”

“We’ll smash your brains!”  Ares declared, then he and Zeus led the charge, and once they got close enough...

“Now Sparks!”  Green Defender ordered. With that said, Sparks threw out in the middle of the field what looked like grenade, and when it went off it knocked all of The Mythos out!

“What just happened?”  Dr. Wrong asked.

“That’s what I was about to ask.”  Molder admitted.

“Simple we temporally took away their abilities…and now they’ll sleep until for the next 48 hours.”  Sparks explained.

“How long have you had that?”  Asked Plantra.

“Since last night.”  He answered.

“If that’s so, then why did you have us go through all this?”  Boom Box complained, “We could’ve gotten ourselves killed!”

“Because those were my orders Boom Box.”  Green Defender told him, “Yes, it would've been easier just to toss out that grenade; however, all of you wouldn't have known any of your limits, and also myself, what my limits are.  Now for one more surprise…End Program.”  Around them, the school campus disappeared into the domed room of The Holo-Dome.

Chapter 10

“What kind of trickery is this?”  Dr. Wrong asked in disbelief.

“Simple Quantum Physics Doc.”  Green Defender answered him, “Sparks would you do the honors.”

“Of course, you see, while Hermes and I were racing I went off the track what would be a split second to you guys for me to go and deactivate the force field and then if my calculations were correct which they always are, the energy that both Hermes and I was giving off once the force field was off would open up a time window for Dark-Rider to teleport us into The Holo-Dome.  I had told Green Defender of my idea when he and I were heading to the track and Dark-Rider was able to listen in, and once the race was done all I had to do was give Green Defender a quick thumbs up at the speed that only he could see, after Dark-Rider told me that it worked.  And once we were teleported here, Dark-Rider sent an anonymous message to the police what had transpired and that we would send the villains to the nearest US Police station in a couple of hours”

“But you two were the only ones that knew, why not fill us in?” Aquatrina asked.

“Would you have pushed yourself if you knew the truth?”  Green Defender asked her as well as the others and they shook their heads.  “Even though I knew all of that, I still had to imagine in my mind what would happen just so I could have the feeling of what I was fighting for…each and every life out there.”

“Well, when you put it all like that then I guess we can all understand.”  Boom Box said apologetic like.

“No worries Boom Box, you still have a lot to learn about our leader and his last-minute plans.”  Molder patted him on the shoulder.

“That would explain how I could hear Dark-Rider as if he was right next to me before my fight,” Mindra said.

“That and how The Laser Blade was able to get here in a fraction of a second.”  Green Defender nodded.  He then turned to Dr. Wrong, “You see Doc, you may be a brilliant scientist, however, and you thought that the combined powers of your Mythos would defeat us, you forgot the greatest power that God ever gave man…his brain.”

“It doesn’t matter, I’ve lost to you and it is nowhere for me to run…I surrender.”  He said giving up and he held out his hands to be cuffed.

Two hours later Dr. Wrong was sent to Prison Island, and The Mythos was sent to a facility that held along with The Cyber-Destroyers as well as others that The Alpha Force had defeated.  After they returned to The Big House, they and their parents had a big feast to celebrate.  They all ate until they were not able to eat anymore, then sat and told their families of all the adventures they had.  Towards the end of the evening, Mike and Nicole went out to the Balcony of the second floor.  “So, are you going to tell me what’s bugging you?”  He asked.

“I just received a letter from the USA High School in New York…I’ve been accepted, as well as the new recruits.”  She told him.

“When were you going to tell me?”

“I’ve been wanting to for a day now, but you were going through a phase, so I decided to wait…sorry I waited so long.”

“When do you leave?”

“Next week, we’re all getting transferred.  And I will be the leader of them so don’t worry about that, however, Angie declined for she wanted to be with John.”

“Understandable.”  He took her into her arms, “But where does that leave us?”

“I’ll call you every day through the video phone.  And if you ever need back up, we’ll be there to help out.”  She assured him.

“What about where you’ll live?”

“Uncle Jacob already has that covered.”

“That’s good...OH!”  Mike fell to his knees.

“What is it?”  She grabbed hold of him.

“My abilities…they’re gone!”

Epilogue

In a Castle that is owned by The Society, Superior was having a meeting with The Council of Evil. “Dr. Wrong has failed us!”  Said, one man.

“Yes, so have you Superior.” Blamed a woman.

“Is that so?”  Superior asked

“Yes, we will contact the…” Another man began to say, and he started to choke, all of them started to, except Superior, Cykrill and Ruthers.

“I am Superior!  I never fail!  It is you, you old fools that have failed, you have outlived your purpose, be grateful that you are dying of poison, I could’ve had you die a worse death.”  He then turned to Cykrill and Ruthers, “Go and get my new Council of Evil.”
