The Alpha Squad

Graduation, Good Bye and Farewell

Prologue

Months have gone by without incident for The Alpha Squad since their adventure at Castle Dark-Rider. However, unknown to them a very grave danger is about to rear its ugly head. Superior and the remaining members of The Society have found The Sword of Chaos, a weapon of untold power. Will The Alpha Squad be ready for such a confrontation? The answer lies within these pages.

Chapter 1

His name is Scavenger. He is the leader of the recovery team for The Society. He stood at 6’4 and was built like a tank. He had red hair and beard and was originally from Scotland. He was just finishing a job when he received a communiqué from Cykrill that his services were needed for a retrieval job. Once he was in his quarters, he contacted the evil cyborg. “You have a job for me?”

“Yes, we need you to retrieve a sword for Superior. I am sending you the coordinates right now.” Cykrill told, and instantly numbers and letters appeared on the screen.

“That’s right in the middle of The Atlantic Ocean!” Scavenger exclaimed.

“Can you do the job or not?”

“Of course I can!” He got defensive. “The question is how much are you going to pay me.

“We’ll pay you triple of what we normally pay you.” Cykrill offered.

“Sounds reasonable enough.” He agreed as he rubbed his right hand through his beard. “It’ll take me at least a month to get to those coordinates.”

“As soon as you retrieve it bring to the castle.” Cykrill told him. “Superior wants it handed to him personally.”

“Very well, I’ll see you in a couple of months.” He turned off his monitor and looked towards the ocean. “I wonder exactly what type of sword it is.”

His question was answered about a month later when his team of retrieval experts when down into the depths. The sword encased within a sheath and one of the men was foolish enough to take it out of its sheath and immediately disintegrated in front of the rest of the crew. Scavenger grabbed a rag, grabbed the sword and put it back into its sheath. “No one is to touch this sword! It belongs to Superior and him alone.” The rest of the men nodded in fear. He took the sword to his quarters, sat down in front of the communications monitor, and turned it on. “I have the sword.”

“Excellent we await for your arrival.” Cykrill acknowledged and ended communications.

“Time to get this to Superior. The sooner it’s off of my ship the better.”

Chapter 2

Graduation was just around the corner for the Seniors of Silverton High School. Many of the soon to be graduates had already been accepted to various colleges. The more prestige of them had been invited to be apart of The USA University campuses through out the states. There were even a couple of students accepted to Yale, Harvard and even Oxford. The teens known to the world as The Alpha Squad were enjoying the day off they were given by their leader Dark-Rider to go shopping after school was over to pick out clothes to wear when they graduate. The girls went to the mall while the guys went to a tuxedo shop to fit into suits to wear.

“So what do you think Dan is going to wear to graduation?” Erica asked her sister as she was browsing through dresses to try on.

“I think he said he was going to try to find a brown colored shirt.” Erin answered as she picked out a purple dress.

“Mike said he was wearing all black, but didn’t say whether it would be a suit or not.” Erica brought up.

“Mike wearing black is nothing new to this group.” Clara said as she came out of the dressing room wearing a red dress.

“Wow that looks great on you Clara!” Nicole complimented.

“Thanks. But back to what I was saying, Mike wearing black is a given, now a suit that would be interesting to see.” Clara continued.

“Well he did wear one for Prom.” Ally pointed out as she came out with a light blue dress. “This’ll do I think.”

“Yeah I think we got what we need…what about you Erica?” Clara asked.

“I think I’ll try this golden colored one.” She said and then looked at the price tag that said it was $650! “You know what; I think I’ll just pick something from my closet.”

“Suit yourself, but my uncles’ buying our dresses as well as the guys’ suits, so I’m not going easy when it comes to prices.” Nicole piped up.

“Well since you put it that way.” Erica grabbed the dress, “Let’s check out ladies!”

Chapter 3

At The Tux Store, the guys were browsing around and trying on different suits. “So Mike you're actually going to wear a suit?” Dan asked as he saw his friend come out of the dressing room with an all black suit.

“You sound shocked Dan.” Mike said checking himself out in the mirror.

“Well beings that you have never had worn one…” Dave started to say.

“Except for the prom.” John interrupted.

“I stand corrected.” Dan and Dave said at the same time.

“So what are everyone’s plans after graduation?” Dave asked.

“Well there’s the party in the gym for Seniors only.” Dan reminded.

“Yeah but I meant after all of it is over.” Dave said solemnly.

“We’ll talk about it when we get back home.” Mike spoke up, the others nodded, and they continued browsing and picking out suits. Mike knew where Dave was going with his question. Everyone in the group was wondering the same question. They still had The Society to deal with, and that was always on their list of concerns. Mike wish they were able to finish the remaining members of The Society but it the last couple of months had been very quiet as if they had fallen off the face of the earth. Nevertheless, Mike knew that was not the case, they were being quiet for a reason and if anything the past had taught him and the others is that the quieter Superior and his forces are the stronger they become.

Chapter 4

The Alpha Squad met in their Meeting Room when they had returned from their day of shopping. Dark-Rider opened the meeting, “There’s been a question that has been on everybody’s mind for the past month or so. And that is what are we to do after graduation is over? The answer is up to you. We may still have The Society to fight off but I am not going to force anyone to stay here. So if you wish to leave to go to college and continue the fight wherever you go, then so be it. But Erica and I have discussed our plans and have agreed to stay in the area.”

“Well a group of us have been accepted to USA University in the Los Angles chapter.” Molder brought up. “And since you have said that it was okay then we shall leave there in August.”

“How many of you are planning on going there?” Jacob asked. Molder, Star-Girl, Mindra, Frezor, Sparks and Metallacia raised their hands. “What about the rest of you?”

“I’m going to Florida.” Blaze spoke up.

“And I’m going back to New York.” Shieldra told them.

“We’ll be spread pretty thin but am sure that everyone will find others like ourselves among them.” Dark-Rider stated. “Though we will be apart we will forever will The Alpha Squad!” They then prayed that God’s will would be done and help them find Superior and to put an end of his evil.

Chapter 5

Scavenger had pulled his boat The Blue Crab up to port near the castle that belonged to The Society. He walked through the castle with the sword still in its sheath. As he approached, the throne room of Superior the more and more nervous he got. He had never met Superior in person but his image on the communications monitor was intimidating enough! Cykrill escorted him to the throne room and once he was before Superior, he bowed to one knee and offered the sword to him. “Here is the sword you have requested my master.”

Superior stood up from his throne and walked down the steps that led to floor of which Scavenger knelt. Superior then took hold of the sword, drew it out of its sheath, and glowed in a darkish red color. “Now this Sword of Chaos will now serve me.” Superior gloated. He looked at those around him, and they kneeled.

“All hail Superior! Master of Evil!” They all chanted.

“I can feel its power!” Superior proclaimed. “And its power is now mine.”

“Uh my master Superior…” Scavenger spoke up, “Not to be rude, but my payment?”

“Oh of course, how inconsiderate of me.” Superior grunted. “Cykrill will you please escort Scavenger back to his boat where his reward is waiting for him?”

“As you command my master.” Cykrill bowed and escorted him back to his boat.

“What are your orders Superior?” Ruthers asked.

“Get word out to our warriors! We will be retrieving them within the next 24 hours.” Superior instructed, “We shall attack The Alpha Squad and their friends when they least expect it.”

“By your command Superior!” Ruthers acknowledged and went to the communications chamber.

Once everyone had left Superior, The Sword of Chaos glowed and a voice spoke through it, “Superior! You must free me!”

“That is the plan my master.” Superior bowed before the sword.

“You know what must be done.” Samhain instructed.

Chapter 6

Mike Black looked over the town of Silverton from the balcony of his room watching the sunset. He heard someone coming in and turned to see his girl friend Erica. “Well this is a nice surprise.” She mentioned.

“What’s that?” Mike asked her.

“You being out of headquarters or not even out on patrol.” She answered.

“I still plan on going out on patrol as soon as I finish this sunset.” Mike told her with a smile on his face. “And I can’t think of anyone else I’d rather watch it with.” She took his hand into hers and watched the sunset together.

John was with his girl friend Angie along with Dan and Erin on a double date at a movie. “Glad you guys came along with us this time.” Dan told them as they took their seats.

“Oh and why is that?” John asked.

“Because last time we went out with Mike and my sister, let’s just it was Mike’s turn to pick the movie.” Erin answered.

“Oh I see. Well don’t blame you for picking us then.” Angie laughed.

“I’m surprised all three couples didn’t go out on a triple date.” Dan suggested.

“Well you know Mike and my sister; they’d rather be out patrolling the streets then to hang out with us.” Erin told him.

“True, but Mike’s the one that’s always saying that we need to take in all there is of being normal teenagers.” Dan added.

“You got a point there.” John agreed.

“Maybe next time we just force them to come out with us.” Angie suggested to the others.

“Yeah maybe next time.” Dan said as he hushed the others to be quiet for the movie was about to start.

Clara, Nicole and Ally sat around and gave each other a make over. “I don’t know about you girls but I’m tired but being left out.” Nicole complained.

“What do you mean?” Clara asked as she sat under a tanning light.

“What she means is I think she’s tired of being single.” Ally answered.

“Oh I see.” Clara said turned off the lamp and examined herself in the mirror, “Hmm, not tan enough.”

“And why are you tanning yourself?” Nicole asked.

“Cause I would like to try it the normal way.” Clara asked, “Besides when I go to Florida I’m going to have to tan the natural way.”

“I just can’t believe that we’ll be graduating tomorrow!” Ally exclaimed with glee.

“Yeah it’s amazing how fast the last three years have gone by.” Clara agreed.

“Well the sooner I get back to The Big Apple the better.” Nicole said as she took her turn lying down next to the tanning light.

“So what is everybody else doing tonight?” Ally asked as she started paint her finger nails.

“Mike and Erica are going out on patrol, the other two couples are going out to a movie and Dave is working security tonight in place of John.” Clara answered as she began to place a Mud Mask on her face.

“Clara! You’re not seriously putting on a mask are you?” Ally asked.

“Of course.” She answered.

“But what of your abilities?” Nicole asked next.

“Don’t worry girls; I highly doubt I will have to worry about them going out of whack.” Clara told them as she finished applying the Mask.

Someone knocked on the door and girls said it was safe to come in and entered Jacob. “Ladies, I take it you are enjoying your evening off?” Jacob asked them.

“Yeah would you care to join us Uncle?” Nicole offered.

“No thank you. I’m surprised you’re not getting your hair done.” Jacob mentioned.

“Not this time.” Ally sung playfully.

“Each time we get out hair done, the next day we’re regretting it.” Clara said as she put cucumbers over her eyes.

“I see what you mean.” Jacob nodded, “Well I shall take my leave and check on Frezor and see if he needs anything.” They said good night to him and he walked down the stairs leading to the main hall. It was hard to imagine how time had moved so fast over the last few years. It felt like yesterday that Nicole’s mother had dropped her off at his footsteps. Shortly after that, he rescued the others on behalf of their parents, whom he had never told the teens that it was their parents who had asked him to rescue them. Then a few years after that Mike and the others walked into the very library that he had just now stepped into and went down the elevator to the main headquarters. He stepped off the elevator and walked to I.Q. where Frezor was sitting observing the screen. “Any disturbances?”

“Dark-Rider just asked me the same question a few minutes ago, and the answer is nothing.” Frezor answered plainly.

“I take it you’re regretting switching places with Sparks?” Jacob asked him.

“No, I just find it annoying that Dark-Rider keeps calling in every five minutes asking if there are any incidents in town.” Frezor complained. “How am I supposed to enjoy this book with him doing that?”

“I see what you mean…please allow me?” Jacob motioned for the communicator and Frezor allowed him, “Big House to Dark-Rider come in?”

“Dark-Rider here.”

“Dark-Rider I am ordering you as your superior officer for you and Light-Blader to take the rest of the night off and enjoy it. I’m sure that the police can handle the streets of Silverton for one night.”

“Copy that Big House, Dark-Rider over and out.”

Chapter 7

Dark-Rider turned off his communicator and deactivated his and Light-Bladers’ Bio-Suits. “I guess Jacob was serious about us taking the night off.” Mike told her.

“I tried to tell ya.” She reminded him.

“Yeah, yeah, yeah.” He stuck his tongue out at her. “So what should we do?”

“How about we just take a nice evening ride?” Erica suggested.

“I think I can handle that.” He assured her, “Hang on then.” He revved the engine on the motor cycle code named Shadow and they took off fast onto the highway.

Frezor read his book in silence. It was a book his father had given him as a graduating present. It was titled, “College: The next chapter in your life.” At first, he thought it was his dad’s idea of joke. But after he had read the first few pages, he realized that his dad was doing him a favor. The book covered many different issues, from dealing with a roommate to how to avoid being a part of a Fraternity. “Well I don’t think I’ll have roommate issues since Dan, John, and I am getting a 3 bedroom apartment.” He thought to himself. The girls had decided to do the same and they were going to try to find an apartment close to them. “That would make things a bit easier.”

The girls had finished their makeover and began cleaning up Nicole’s room. “So when do you leave for New York?” Ally asked.

“I leave next week.” Nicole answered. “I’ll be taking over as the Housing Manager of The Beta House.”

“Are you going to be in charge of The Beta Force?” Clara asked.

“No, but I will be overseeing all of their operations.” Nicole told her.

“What about you Clara, when do you leave for Florida?” Ally asked her.

“In the middle of August just in time for orientation.” Clara answered plainly.

“Well I’m going to be with most of the group in LA. I just hope the city isn’t as bad as the news makes it sound.” Ally pleaded.

“You know the media they like to blow things out of whack!” Clara assured her. “So don’t worry about it.” They all said good night to one another and went to bed.

Chapter 8

Mike and Erica rode along the highway taking them to some farmland and parked the bike near a tree. They sat below the tree held each other close. “So have you decided what you’re going to major in?” Erica asked him.

“I’m thinking Majoring in Creative Writing, and a Minor in music.”

“Why not the other way around? I thought you loved music?”

“I do. But I feel that being an author would be better.” Mike told her. “But what about you?”

“Majoring in History and a Minor in Math.” She answered.

“History I can help you with, but don’t bother asking me about Math.” Mike told her.

“Why is that?”

“I hate math!” He breathed.

“Well don’t expect me to proof read your reports then.” Erica explained to him.

“Why?”

“I hate English.” She copied him, and they both busted up laughing. “You wanna know something?”

“What’s that?”

“After we graduate from college, can we buy a piece of land like this?” She asked as she surveyed the area.

“I can’t see why not.” Mike answered with a shrug.

“I mean I know we’ll be busy with saving the world and all, but I would really like to have a place to where we can just sit down and relax like we’re doing now.” She explained.

“You know what? I think that’s a good idea, and hopefully the price of land will be down by then.” he joked and they got back onto the bike and headed back.

Chapter 9

The next morning came early for the teens. They got together for one last session in The Holo-Dome, and one final breakfast before starting one of the biggest days’ of their lives. Graduation was to begin later that evening, but they had practice during the afternoon. Ally went to the newspaper room one last time and handed the keys to her former Assistant Editor-In-Chief and the now Editor-In-Chief, “Take good care of this place for me.” Ally told Jamie.

“Don’t worry boss, we’ll make you proud.” Jamie assured her.

Mike went into Band Room one last time for the graduating Seniors were asked to give a speech. When Mike’s turn came he said; “You may think you’re time in High School is long, but I assure you it fails into comparison when you get to this point in your life. I am the first in my family to Graduate, and maybe that’ll be you someday. My word of encouragement for you to never give up! Even when you think you’ve given all you have, you can rely on your friends and family to continue on.”

The Graduation practice went on without any incident but that did not give the teens any comfort. They knew that most likely today was the day that The Society would strike! Mike was the most concerned; he knew that if The Society did attack tonight that he and the others would have no choice but to reveal their identities as The Alpha Squad!

The Alpha Squad met in the meeting room one last time. “We must take into consideration, that if The Society does strike tonight, we each have a choice whether or not to run or fight.” Dark-Rider opened the meeting, “I believe that if I have choice, I will stand and fight! Even if that means I reveal myself to the world that I am The Dark-Rider!” He looked at the others for their responses, and they all agreed that they were with him. “Jacob is the back up plan in place?”

“Yes it is.” Jacob assured him.

“What back up plan?” Sparks asked.

“A precautionary tactic.” Dark-Rider answered, “Plus not only will we be there but are parents will be there in case we need them. Anymore questions…good let’s get ready.”

They got dressed in their graduating outfits and took off to the school. They took their places in the cafeteria and then headed out to the field as the high school band played Pomp and Circumstance. As they marched to take their seats people in the stands and chairs were applauding them on how proud the town was of them.

They sat down in the seats and heard the speeches made by selected members of the graduating class. Once the speeches were done The Senior Class President who later called out the names of each Senior. Each time a member of The Alpha Squad went up; they grabbed a hold of their diplomas and stepped off the stage they looked around using their peripheral vision of any sign of The Society. Once the last Senior was named, Principal Johnson, “Ladies and Gentlemen I now present to you the Class of…What in the world is that”, as he began to present them to the crowd.

They all looked up and saw the Sky Ship above them. The Alpha Squad looked at one another and knew who it was! Superior teleported down onto the stage and took the microphone. “Ladies and Gentlemen please pardon this interruption but I too would like to make a speech on the behest of the graduating class.” Superior spoke as he stared into the crowd. “The speech is however towards The Alpha Squad whom has been hiding under guises as normal teenagers over the last four years! They now have a choice either they reveal themselves now…or I shall signal to my Sky Ship to start dropping bombs on this whole area! You have 30 seconds.”

“We have no choice.” Was all Mike said as he and the other nodded in agreement…and stood up! And headed to the front of the stage. People all over were shocked as they looked upon those whom they had known for nearly 4 years now!

“They’re The Alpha Squad?”

“I can’t believe it!”

“I hope someone is videotaping this!”

“We’re here Superior.” Dark-Rider told him as he took off his graduation gown and the others followed suit. “Bio-Suits activate!” Within seconds in front of the whole crowd, they became The Alpha Squad! “Now that you have us, let’s end this!”

“Yes I agree, for now is the time for me to be rid you once and for all!” Superior told them as he pressed a button on his left gauntlet which teleported all of his minions! Five hundred Cyber-Drones with Cardania and his Cyber-Destroyers! Gamer and his Goons! Mythos! Ruthers and The Trap Masters! Dr. Wrong and The Silver Killers! Dr. Nightmare, The Leprechaun, Technonia and Cykrill! Dark Dragon and his Serpent Squad! People began to run in terror as the villain’s teleported onto the football field. “Time to die Alpha Squad!”

“Not so fast lame brain!” Dark-Rider taunted, “Jacob time for that back up plan!” Dark-Rider spoke into his communicator and within a second stood with them, The Beta Force! The Banished! Black Ops and The Ghost Squadron! And The Continentals! “You didn’t really think that I wouldn’t be prepared for such an even like this now did you?”

“Actually I was hoping you would, so that all you may be destroyed!” Superior then took The Sword of Chaos out of its sheath! “And with this I shall kill you!” He pointed it at Dark-Rider.

“Dark-Rider! That is The Sword of Chaos! Do what you must to defeat Superior but do not, I repeat do not allow him to stab you with it! It’s the only sword on this earth that can penetrate your armor and maybe even kill you!” Jacob warned.

“I copy that Jacob.” Dark-Rider acknowledged.

“I’m ready when you are.” Superior told them.

“Once everyone who is not in this battle has cleared the area.” Dark-Rider pointed at him, “No innocent bystander needs to be in this. Jacob is the area clear?”

“It is, activating force field now!” Jacob said as he pressed some buttons and around the heroes and villains was a dome shaped force field.

“Now attack!” Superior declared and jumped down the stage with The Sword of Chaos coming down to slice The Dark-Rider in half! Dark-Rider unsheathed The Sword of Power and activated The Shield of Defense in time to block the attack!

The Alpha Squad battled The Cyber-Destroyers and The Silver Killers!

Black Ops and The Ghost Squadron began shooting down The Cyber-Drones.

The Banished went toe to toe with Dark Dragon and his Serpent Squad.

The Continentals fought with The Trap Masters and Ruthers.

The Beta Force handled the rest…This was an all out war!

Chapter 10

Dark Rider had nothing but confidence in his teams! He knew they were ready for a time such as this. All those hours of training that they had put in via The Holo-Dome and the countless battles had prepared them. However, Dark-Rider had not taken into consideration The Sword of Chaos! He had done some reading on it, but never in all his life would he have thought that he would ever face it…especially today of all days. Now he had to focus on Superior who had The Sword of Chaos! The swords clanged and sparked with each blow! Dark-Rider had spent countless hours honing his swordsmanship but now this would be the ultimate test! Dark-Rider had been on the defensive end of the battle to try to wear out Superior who for some reason was not losing any stamina.

Was there something about that sword that gave him extra stamina? Did strengthen him? Make him faster? All these questions would have to be answered some other time. Superior began to taunt him, “What’s the matter Dark-Rider? Are you realizing you’re not as strong as you thought you were?”

“The joy of The Lord is my strength you Nazi freak!” Dark-Rider told him and The Sword of Power glowed! “Great is He who is in me, than he who is in the world!” Dark-Spoke more scriptures from the Bible and with more and more he said the stronger the glow came from The Sword of Power!

“What kind of trickery is this?” Superior pondered aloud in confusion.

“No trickery Superior, just The Truth!” Dark-Rider said as he made his attack! As he attacked with a combination of attacks that he had learned over the years, he saw that the teams were nearly done with their adversaries. Within seconds, it was now just down to Superior and Dark-Rider. “You’re forces are defeated Superior. It’s now just you and me!”

“Then why don’t you surrender now?” Superior asked him, “All you have to do is just lay down your weapons and pledge your life to me.”

“I have already pledged my life to someone and his Name is Jesus Christ!” Dark-Rider proclaimed, “And now is the time for you to face justice!” Dark-Rider began to attack again but this time with more tenacity! He used all of his knowledge of sword fighting to the point that he finally knocked The Sword of Chaos out of Superiors hands! Dark-Rider kicked him in the gut and bashed Superior at the side of his skull with The Shield of Defense. “It’s over Superior!” Dark-Rider told him as he handcuffed him. He then turned to the others and looked at them proudly! He then noticed outside of the force field that rest of the graduating class and others had looked on and watched the battle and they cheered when Dark-Rider raised The Sword of Power in victory!

He fixed his eyes on Light-Blader and walked up to hold her again…when something stabbed him in the back! The Sword of Chaos hung in the back of Dark-Rider who fell to the ground as the sword went all the way through. Everyone looked on in horror as they saw that The Sword of Chaos had put itself into him! Then a voice spoke through The Sword of Chaos, “You think it was Superior you were to defeat but in all truth it was me.”

“Samhain…” Dark-Rider choked on his blood as his armor and mask began to disintegrate.

“Yes, and now thanks to your ignorance I am now be free of my prison.” The demon said proudly. “And now to choose a vessel to live in.” A red mist began to surround the sword, floated above The Dark-Rider, and then entered…Superior! “I can only live in a vessel that is of true evil and now that I am free.” He took the sword out of Dark-Rider. “I shall rule this world without The Dark-Rider in my way.” He then looked upon the others who stood in shock of what they had witnessed, “I shall give you 24 hours to mourn the loss of your leader here as he takes his dying breathes. And once those hours are up, it’s open season for all of you.” He took raised The Sword of Chaos and all the villains disappeared.

“Mike!” Erica screamed as she deactivated her Bio-Suit and took him into her arms. “Don’t die…please don’t die.”

“I’m sorry…we didn’t….get that farm…” He spoke weakly.

“Jacob we need an emergency extraction now!” Shieldra demanded.

“I am trying but there’s interference coming from the Sky Ship. I’m trying to re-calibrate.”

“Just hurry Jacob!” Blaze cried.

“Son, please don’t leave us.” Black Ops grabbed onto his son.

“I’ll be back…even if you bury me…God will bring me back…one way or another.” Dark-Rider told them and then looked at Erica one last time, “I Love…you!” He breathed his last.

“Mike? Mike? Mike!” Erica broke down as she refused to let him go.

What will happen to The Alpha Squad now that their leader is dead? What is Samhain's plans for the world? Will The Dark-Rider ever return? Stay tuned for the next issue of The Alpha Squad!
