I Kissed Death

I Kissed Death

A Poem by Geralyn Miller

I've kissed Death

more than a time or two;

danced with him twice.

Once, we waltzed

to the gates of forever;

but the draw of family

lured me back

to the Earthly realms.

Death taught me many things,

the small joys of life

and just how precious they are;

the value of loyal friends;

and the absolute pointlessness

of amassing earthly wealth.

Death allowed me to understand

that an earthly life is but a flicker

on the course of eternity,

and once we have completed

our Earthly lessons;

our spirits will forever dwell

in the halls of eternity.

Death and I are old friends.

A realistic portrayal of an earthly incident.I too had experienced this years back, I resisted and was thrown back again on the earth.

A very powerful poem. The poem tell a story the love and the need of a family can save you from the hold of death. I like this story. Coming back from death open door to appreciate the simple gifts of life. Thank you for the excellent poem.
