Death No Longer Waits in the Hall

Death No Longer Waits in the Hall

A Poem by Geralyn Miller

Today , May 27th at 6am Arizona time

my sister finally died.

She has been hospitalized

since before Hallow E'en.

Death came in God's time.

She was born with so many gifts,

and squandered them all.

She is my younger sister

and we are sitting death watch.

The hospital staff keep her painfree,

a ventilator assists her breathing.

Hope is past.

No more codes,

no more life snatched from death.

DNR,

three little letters, her choice;

and a wise one.

Only one third of her heart survives,

her liver and kidneys have shut down.

Death will come for her in God's time.

Death will give her peace

that has eluded her for many years.

ever since her husband molested her sons,

his stepsons.

She always blamed herself.

Her voice speaks in "Ultimate Betrayal".

May Death bring her heart's ease,

and peace for all eternity.

I came to listen to your thoughts...We are the sum of the energy within... Fractals given the taste of form... seems we are seldom as close as we wish we were, and even less seldom when we need to be.

This is melancholic and I utterly felt an unbearable sadness as I was reading this poem. Words captivated your emotions blatantly. I'm sorry for your loss.
I like the last stanza. It's relaxing somehow.

A nice tribute to a tragic end...I am truly sorry for your loss...
None of us knows what death brings....or eases the pain of those left behind...
all we DO know for certain....is we will all experience it...and we must move on (after a grief period) to find peace for ourselves...while here.

I would. It's a very disturbing piece and we all hope she soon finds peace. I however is a firm supporter of life and find no consolation that she should find peace after her time in the world. It's a great dedication, something which is meant to be heard so that at least the world knows how not so fortunate so many of us are and yet most of us grumble at the smallest things we don't have
