Parole Denied

Parole Denied

A Poem by Geralyn Miller

     So you think you paid

for taking anothers life?

     Time served is enough?

     You say you're sorry,

that you should be forgiven;

     get on with your life.

     What of your victim?

All the people who loved him,

     You stole him away.

     Sorry isn't enough.

You need to pay with your life,

     in a prison cell.

Comments desired, I am not sure this is complete, input, please.

This is based on a real case where the murderer came up for parole and told the parole board, "I'm sorry, that should be enough. I need to get on with my life."

My former neighbors 3 yr old daughter was killed too, apparently according to the judge the guy who said did it didnt do it the only one left was the mom... case is now closed & the little girl i babysat died in vain.. beaten to death in her room. I had to testiy in court .. last thing i heard was her crying & screaming at 9 pm the night before from outsie her house as i was walking home...thinking oh she doesn't want to go to bed. typical of her really. sad her killer was not brought to justice.. This was a great poem..

Sorry is never enough for an endlessly sorrowful crime, deep, powerful, and unfortuntely true. I liked the bginning and rhymes in this write. Keep it up.

What point is there in prolonged incarceration at the taxpayers expense. You take a life deliberately you forfeit your right to live. Cause and effect should balance equally
