Ten Thousands Shades of Grey

Ten Thousands Shades of Grey

A Poem by Geralyn Miller

Always ambiguous,

he lives between the lines,

in his world without absolutes.

Embracing contraditions,

he lives in shades of grey;

an ever changing creature

more of shadow than flesh.

As days pass,

he morphs from one shape

to another, ever changing;

He inhabits the grey areas

between absolutes

There is so much shadow in him,

he is scarcely human;

he is a walking enigma,

a living conundrum

in ten thousand shades of grey.

Having met many who this would describe I wonder what makes them so.........grey being so dull really, and so many different shades in one man must cause confusion. I loved the idea, how you sink perfect words onto paper.........

i like Bach, but hate opera...i listen while i write etc...

so, best part to me is "there is so much shadow in him...i would take out the next line "he is scarcely human" since the prior line makes that one redundent; see how well it works there jumping from "there is... to "he is a walking enigma?

and see how the first line doesnt need to rely upon the second line Always ambiguous," is so good i mean that. it doesnt need the next "he lives between the lines" is redundant (either that or use the second line as the first and get rid of the first...

try that in the whole poem, thats what i do... just me talking here. i hope i am not being too critical because i think you have alot of talent. i just hate to say good good all the time. bye raining

any work is always a work in progress, i believe. your poem only shows here that we are all a work in progress as human beings, so anything of ours is always in progression with us.

there is a whisper of the mortal fear of commitment gliding between the lines~ such a well presented photographic write in movement~
