Darkness Clings

Darkness Clings

A Poem by Geralyn Miller

Darkness clings,

loath to leave

the sleeping city.

Hides in corners,

cowers in alleys,

skulks in shadows,

Darkness does.

Creeping, sneaking,

sly and slippery,

Darkness is

a haunting thing.

Shrouds the truth,

buries the flaws,

pretends perfection,

Darkness does.

while reading this poem,i thought of a human's soul and how dark it can become over time. That "Darkness" can make life hard or you can choose to turn it around. i also thought of drug and alcohol abuse, because it can take hold and never let go. very intoxicating. well done.

Darkness can mean many things. I like the part of the day when night take over the day. When I was young and lived in Detroit. Few would roam the city street. Age made my fear go away and I believe we can become part of the darkness. I like this short poem. Took me back to my days of youth. A excellent poem.
