Answering Service: Cancel Wedding/Schedule FuneralA Poem by Geralyn Miller"Ma'am, I'm sorry to wake you, I know it's 3AM, but it's really important." (I hasten to assure him, I was awake to answer the phones.)
"Please tell Father Joe to cancel the wedding for Saturday; I need to schedule a funeral instead." (I make comforting sounds, as he continues.)
My boy was getting married Saturday; he was a good son, already bought a house, he works very hard; he has two jobs. He was on his way home, last night, a drunk hit his motorcycle, he was wearing his helmet, but my boy ---he died an hour ago.
Please tell Father Joe, I'm very sorry, I am very sorry to call so early. . ." © 2010 Geralyn Miller |
