Five Years of KatrinaA Poem by Geralyn Milleran ongoing, impromtu work.Five years ago, the great storm came; it hit the Gulf Coast with horrible power. In Missippi, the town of Waveland vanished every building destroyed by Katrina's rage; leaving a landscape that echoed Nagasaki and Hiroshima.
In New Orleans, it nearly took the music away. When the levees broke, the water poured in, making much of New Orleans an extension of Lake Ponchatrain. Three thousand people died. Bodies piled on roads, hidden in flooded buildings, or left to float in the filthy flood water; adding to the stench. © 2010 Geralyn MillerAuthor's Note
