Last Burial from OK City

Last Burial from OK City

A Poem by Geralyn Miller

The last victim who died

in the Oklahoma City Federal Building bombing

was buried today,

in Tennesse

.

Alvin Justus, a lonely veteran,

often spent his days at the Federal Credit Union,

enjoying the company of the employees.

In the beginning,

no one missed him.;

until his landlord

wanted the rent.

He died with his only friends,

The only people who would have missed him.

the matter of fact peel back of this reality gives the poem a deep inhale quality~and there at the end one comes up for air~ wondering how many walk as unnoticed ghosts among us until something is required of them~ deeply poignant and moving~
