The MachineA Poem by Dillon "Gerald" SteeleThis is a poem about School and all the machine like things we do. I based this poem off the song "Another Brick in the Wall" by Pink Floyd. We sit in class listening to the humming sound the clicking of heels the ticking of the clock. Thousands of students sit in a four walled building with no windows “No standing!” “No talking!” “No thinking for yourself!” “Work hard” “No breaks” Our hands callused Our minds bruised Sleepless nights baggy eyes. Pale empty faces wandering the halls headphones drowing out the sorrows of the murmoring students. The gears turning everyones minds rattling. “No standing!” “No talking!” “No thinking for yourself!” “Work hard” “No breaks” We run this machine for 180 days every year for eternity or so it seems. Never learning how to think, they think for us. Never learning how to talk they talk for us. Never learning how to live this machine does it for us.
