I’m not mad, Just disappointed.

I’m not mad, Just disappointed.

A Poem by Dillon "Gerald" Steele

It’s 11:14

and he gets the call

phone falls on the hard wood floor

he rushes to the door.

He opens it to a state trooper

he drops to his knees.

Hands cover his face

the world on his shoulders

he lets it crush him.

His son went too fast

it was raining.

He never got home

But I guess the state trooper decided

to take his spot.

tears flow as he remembers

the last words he said to his son

before he stormed out

“you are a dissapointment”

Silence,

thats all there was no one around to help.

I guess his son was dissapointed

in the state of the rain outside

of the state his car was in

of the state he was in.

It’s 11:15

and everything that couldve gone wrong

has.

You create situation and a lesson. Last words will stay with us. My Grandfather told me. Never come into my home with anger and leave with kind words and goodbye. We never know when we seeing a beloved friend or family member. I like the honest and directness of the words. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

A good poem with an excellent ending. I don't mind "could've", but it does need the apostrophe. Not sure that the title really fits the poem, but it does have a nice ring to it.

Simply tragic.

NOTES: "and everything that [could've] gone wrong"
But, I recommend: "and everything that [could have] gone wrong"

This is amazing! Sad sad, and so beautifully descriptive. really puts into perspective how quickly our lives can be taken, and how important the words we say are.
