Friendship Blues

Friendship Blues

A Poem by Georgia Ivy
"

Yeah...

"
He's more important than me, and I get that
It's no biggie, I'll just scrub off the ink from when you chose my tat
I'll just delete every picture of you
y'know, get rid of half my photos app
Remind myself this is a decision that you made, as there was never laid a trap
You allowed this man who's riddled
get between us, sitting comfortably in the middle
Some may say I'm being really fickle
but it hurts seeing you choose the one who sexually assaulted me
You proclaim he's the man of your dreams
Disregarding how we can all see that you're just a pawn in his scheme
The morning after it happened I told you my tale
Expecting the comfort of a friend, but instead you derailed
A time when I just needed you; someone who I can depend
You're only response was "you f*****g slept with my boyfriend?"
So yes, I'm talking s**t about you
I'm gonna go to every open mic and share with complete strangers
my friendship blues
But something I've realized is that distracting myself with partying every night
Stuffing my mouth with donut holes and cans of Sprite
Even though you're with the man who tried to dim my light
My life is happier without you and I'm sure I'll be alright
