Grenfell FireA Poem by George CoombsConcerning the fire in London just over a year agoGrenfell Fire
( A Year On 6/6/2018)
now tired journeying... a long way...seeking peace...wanting justice...
too much whitewash covers sinister walls of social infamy...
grenfell is a charred building safety is a child lost...vulnerable who screams “why would they never listen?”
today... in london scene of much chequered history remembering loved ones...taken beyond pain... safe now...
memory...insistent as a blackbird heralding coming night now... a deeper darkness...
those who were told did nothing... they walked by on the other side... they did nothing...
grenfell person like an infant lost among frail winter trees...
lack of authentic listening... deafness of authority that will not hear...
now... those we no longer see stand in our remembrance here from another reality...
here is righteous anger we will not forget...
