World Aids Day 1/12/2017

A Poem by George Coombs
"

I attended this day as I often do, very moving, my brother passed on with aids related illness so very special to me

"

World Aids Day (1/12/2017

cold close to vulnerable person

night in December ... World Aids Day

names spoken here...where our candles

illumine inner country

of treasured memory...

i listen to names read out

they are here...among us

where a full moons drapes their

scared selves with light...

they gently infiltrate sound

of scared litany of true selves intoned

here... they are indeed sacred

safe from predatory stigma still

stalking existence...for them

in this eternal now...peace at last...

Yes, we still read the roll-call of the legions of scared, sacred dead. We pray for the legions still living with AIDs and for the researchers to be funded so that a cure can finally be found. How many lives and journeys interrupted...How long will the stigma and suffering endure...beautiful, relevant, compassionate poem painting the dark, stark reality of what still exists. Kudos & Blessings George.

The words... sincere, true, sad, and hopeful. One day let this scourge be cured! We remember... you are not nameless, nor faceless. Excellent write on such a difficult subject. Noticed moon(s) is singular in the poem. It is not right to say I enjoyed this poem, it is correct to say it educates the reader whom otherwise might be oblivious to this topic. Cheers!
