Mum's candle

A Poem by George Coombs

Another of many things written for my late mother whose carer I was for many years

"

Mum's Candle

(for Mum)

candle...

tongue of quiet

illumination

gentle presence

you are here

close now...

you have

come through the

shadow valley

now in silence

you...my special

flame dance

delicate on

butterfly feet...

you have gone

into welcoming nature

with other loved ones

peace...light into

unending light...

Gosh, George!
This is fraught with gentle imagery of admiration and adoring love … you've wonderfully outdone yourself, and who could resist sighing after reading this:

"You...my special
flame dance
delicate on
butterfly feet...
you have gone
into welcoming nature"

Tenderly gorgeous in emotional timbre, George … I dearly love it.
Thank you sincerely for sharing, My Friend! ⁓ Richard ; )

I love the love that you have for your mother. It's warm embrace encompasses the reader with a glow and a warmth and is very, very touching. Beautiful!

Loved this, think this is wonderful. Sorry for the loss as well. I lost my dad when I was 10 so I can relate.

Exquisite tribute. Mothers live on within us. The "candle..tongue of quiet illumination" never goes out. Beautiful metaphor use. "Light into unending light..." Yes. Thank you for sharing.

"...tongue of quiet illumination" - again, you poets ah-maze me with your ability to describe anything from a single cell amoeba to quantum physics with just a few eloquent words.
This is simply sweet and tombstone-worthy.
