Quiet Voice

Quiet Voice

A Poem by George Coombs
"

In memory of my late father, the image is a drawing of him done from memory

"

Quiet Voice

(For Dad 27/8/05)

Now, quiet voice says, “I am free”

Gentle vibration from light beyond light

Here, as you call quietly to me.

I know the lady beside you, I see

Her looking at me with spiritual sight

Now, quiet voice says, “I am free”

No fear, end of all loneliness, tall as a tree

Reaching upward, end of all fright

Here, as you call quietly to me.

Mum, Dad forever with me

Never far, a thought away, from pure white

Now, quiet voice says, “I am free”

No more pain, no grief, eternal purity

Love never dies and knows no day or night

Here, as you call quietly to me.

Gentle man, with Mum safe in eternity

In my heart you dwell in special light

Now, quiet voice says I am free

Here as you call quietly to me.

This is so beautiful and touching. Lovely, lyrical and so spiritual. A wonderful tribute to the "Gentle man" who was your father. Moving use of repetition of the words I am free"- his comforting message to you, his beloved son. Inspiring.
